Diesmal steigt der Streaming-Anbieter als Co-Produzent bei der Detektiv-Serie Dirk Gently ein, welche auf den B\u00c3\u00bcchern von Douglas Adams basiert. Adams ist vor allem durch das Buch Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis bekannt, welches 2005 ebenfalls verfilmt wurde. Gemeinsam mit BBC-America, Ideate Media, AMC Studios und IDW Entertainment produziert Netflix die neue Serie. Als Co-Produzent sicherte sich der VOD-Dienst die Rechte an der Serie, um diese au\u00c3\u0178erhalb Amerikas auf seiner Plattform zu ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlichen. Die Erstausstrahlung der acht Episoden langen Dirk Gently-Serie findet am 22. Oktober 2016 auf dem amerikanischen Sender BBC America statt. Bei Netflix wir die Serie allerdings erst ab Dezember im Programm sein. Bei der Verfilmung handelt es sich \u00c3\u00bcbrigens nicht um den ersten Versuch, Dirk Gently auf die Bildschirme zu bringen. Schon von 2010-2012 hat BBC 4 eine Pilotfolge mit drei weiteren Episoden ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlicht. Die Hauptrolle \u00c3\u00bcbernahm damals der Schauspieler Stephan Mangan (Rush \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Alles f\u00c3\u00bcr den Sieg). Die Thriller-Kom\u00c3\u00b6die dreht sich um die Abenteuer des Exzentrikers Gently (Samuel Barnett) und seines widerwilligen Assistenten Todd (Elijah Wood). Die beiden haben es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht ein riesiges und scheinbar verr\u00c3\u00bccktes Mysterium zu l\u00c3\u00b6sen. Auf ihrer Reise treffen sie auf zahlreiche wilde und manchmal gef\u00c3\u00a4hrliche Gestalten. Doch jede Episode bringt sie ein St\u00c3\u00bccken n\u00c3\u00a4her an die Wahrheit heran. Neben Barnett (The Lady in the Van) und Elijah Wood (Herr der Ringe) wird zudem die Schauspielerin Hannah Marks (The Amazing Spider-Man) vor der Kamera stehen. Das Drehbuch hat der Regisseur und Drehbuchautor Max Landis (American Ultra) geschrieben. Zudem ist Landis auch als Executive Producer eingesetzt.
