Mit mehr als 200 Millionen Nutzern allein in China, \u00c3\u00bcbertrifft TGP (Tencent Gaming Platform) schon jetzt den Steam-Store von Valve. Nun soll TGP umbenannt werden: in WeGame. Offiziell wird dies heute, am 20. April verk\u00c3\u00bcndet. Daniel Ahmad, Analyst bei Niko Partners, platzte bereits vorab damit heraus. Folgt man Daniels Analyse, so gibt sich Tencents Spieleplattform nicht einfach nur einen internationaleren und einpr\u00c3\u00a4gsameren Namen, sondern bereitet sich auf den Einstieg in das internationale Gesch\u00c3\u00a4ft f\u00c3\u00bcr Spieledistribution vor. Tencent ist ein Riese in der Spieleindustrie, der umsatzst\u00c3\u00a4rkste Videospielkonzern \u00c3\u00bcberhaupt und in Deutschland vor allem durch diverse \u00c3\u0153bernahmen und Beteiligungen an beliebten Spiele-Studios, in aller Munde. Vor allem durch League of Legends, die \u00c3\u0153bernahme von Supercell, die fast 50prozentige Beteiligung an Epic Games und Anteile an Blizzard ist Tencent im Besitz oder Mitbesitz von Top-Titeln, die vor allem auch \u00c3\u00bcber die derzeit gr\u00c3\u00b6\u00c3\u0178te Spiele-Plattform Steam von Valve vertrieben und angeboten werden. Der f\u00c3\u00bchrende westliche Marktplatz f\u00c3\u00bcr Spiele k\u00c3\u00b6nnte mit dem Dr\u00c3\u00a4ngen von WeGame auf den westlichen Markt durchaus eine sehr starke Konkurrenz bekommen. Sicherlich wird Tencent nicht sofort seine gro\u00c3\u0178en und st\u00c3\u00a4rksten Spiele von Steam zur\u00c3\u00bcckziehen &#8211; zun\u00c3\u00a4chst wird es wohl erst einmal darum gehen, die Marke WeGame bekannt zu machen &#8211; doch ganz so sicher wie bisher kann sich der Platzhirsch der digitalen PC-Spiele-Stores nun wohl nicht mehr f\u00c3\u00bchlen. Nat\u00c3\u00bcrlich reagierte Tencent auf Daniel Ahmads Tweets, die die Gamingbranche mal wieder aus dem Osterschlaf geholt und f\u00c3\u00bcr viel Diskussionen gesorgt hat. Ahmad interpretierte ein Chart auf der Website von Tencent in diese (internationale) Richtung. Angeblich soll es sich aber tats\u00c3\u00a4chlich nur um einen Rebrand handeln und das chinesische Unternehmen plane mit seinem Spiele-Store keinen Eintritt in den Weltmarkt.
