Kongregate wurde im Jahr 2010 von Gamestop gekauft und wechselt nun wieder den Besitzer. Zuletzt beeindruckte Kongregate mit Spielen wie Adventure Capitalist und Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards, welche schon \u00c3\u00bcber 100 Millionen mal auf die Smartphones geladen wurden. Kongregate ist in San Francisco beheimatet und betreibt ein Webgaming-Portal. Die Geschwister Jim und Emily Green gr\u00c3\u00bcndeten das Unternehmen im Jahr 2006. Das Portal wuchs auf \u00c3\u00bcber 10 Millionen aktive Nutzer pro Monat und wurde an Gamestop verkauft. Dann wurde es um digitale Spiele erweitert. Jim Green hat im Jahr 2014 das Unternehmen verlassen und Emily blieb CEO von Kongregate. MTG, die zuletzt hierzulande durch die Mehrheitsbeteiligung am Hamburger Spiele-Entwickler Innogames f\u00c3\u00bcr Gespr\u00c3\u00a4chsstoff sorgte, \u00c3\u00bcbernahm nun Kongregate zu 100 Prozent. Mittlerweile hat das Portal \u00c3\u00bcber 14 Millionen aktive Nutzer pro Monat und ist erfolgreich, vor allem im mobilen Markt vertreten. Derzeit hat Kongregate \u00c3\u00bcber 80 Mitarbeiter. Emily Green zeigt sich erfreut \u00c3\u00bcber die \u00c3\u0153bernahme durch die MTG. MTG ist genau der richtige Partner, um die Werte von Kongregate, n\u00c3\u00a4mlich Integrit\u00c3\u00a4t, Zusammenarbeit und Spa\u00c3\u0178 weiterzuf\u00c3\u00bchren, die Consumer-Community und Indie-Entwickler zusammen zu bringen und damit gro\u00c3\u0178en Erfolg zu haben. Kongregate wird auch weiter expandieren und auf alle Spieleplattformen streuen. Nicht nur Online, sondern auch mobile Spiele zum Download hat Kongregate im Angebot. Adventure Capitalist ist auch auf der digitalen Distributionsplattform Steam vertreten. Kongregate erwartet in diesem Jahr einen Mindest-Nettoumsatz von 50 Millionen Dollar. Schon im Jahr 2016 wuchs der Umsatz um 38 Prozent auf 35 Millionen. MTG und Kongregate planen, noch mehr First-Party-Developer zu gewinnen, die vom weltweiten Netzwerk profitieren sollen. Nach der \u00c3\u0153bernahme von Innogames mit 51 Prozent im Laufe der Jahre 2016 und 2017 und nun dem Kauf von Kongregate zeichnet sich deutlich die Orientierung der Modern Times Group auf den europ\u00c3\u00a4ischen und amerikanischen Spielemarkt ab. MTG President und CEO Jorgen Madsen Lindemann sagt zur \u00c3\u0153bernahme, dass diese Investition im Einklang mit MTG\u00c2\u00b4s Orientierung auf skalierbare Inhalte und Produkte einhergeht. Online Gaming ist eines der drei digitalen Entertainment-Verticals, auf denen MTG fu\u00c3\u0178t und wird sicher wachsen.
