Staffel eingestellt, doch nun ist Netflix eingesprungen und hat die Politikserie gerettet. Der VoD-Anbieter hat eine 3. Staffel von Designated Survivor in Auftrag gegeben, die sich aus insgesamt zehn Episoden zusammensetzt und soll im Jahr 2019 an den Start gehen soll. Der Beginn der Produktion ist noch f\u00c3\u00bcr dieses Jahr angesetzt. In Designated Survivor Staffel 3 wird sich der Pr\u00c3\u00a4sident Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) unter anderem mit dem Wahlkampf in der heutigen Zeit, Fake News und der Wahlkampffinanzierung auseinandersetzen m\u00c3\u00bcssen. Als Executive Producer fungieren Sutherland, Neal Bear, David Guggenheim, Mark Gordon, Suzan Bommel, Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood und Peter Noah. Bereits vor der \u00c3\u0153bernahme von Designated Survivor durch Netflix war die Serie weltweit \u00c3\u00bcber den VoD-Anbieter abrufbar. Laut The Hollywood Reporter sollen die Gespr\u00c3\u00a4che zur \u00c3\u0153bernahme der Serie fast unmittelbar begonnen haben, nachdem ABD die Serie eingestellt hatte. Sutherland betonte, dass er begeistert dar\u00c3\u00bcber sei, die Gelegenheit zu haben, Pr\u00c3\u00a4sident Kirkman auch in einer 3. Staffel zu spielen.
