Disney+ setzt nat\u00c3\u00bcrlich nicht nur auf schon vorhandene Verfilmungen und Serien, sondern wird auch neue Projekte pr\u00c3\u00a4sentieren. Eines davon ist Diary of a Female President. Die Serie um eine weibliche US-Pr\u00c3\u00a4sidentin wird von Gina Rodriguez Firma I Can and I Will Productions produziert. Unklar war, ob Rodriguez auch eine Rolle vor der Kamera \u00c3\u00bcbernehmen w\u00c3\u00bcrde. Doch dieses R\u00c3\u00a4tsel ist nun gel\u00c3\u00b6st. Gina Rodriguez \u00c3\u00bcbernimmt sogar die Hauptrolle in Form der erwachsenen Elena, die sich auf ihrem Feldzug zur Pr\u00c3\u00a4sidentin befindet. In Diary of a Female President werden wir ein 12j\u00c3\u00a4hriges M\u00c3\u00a4dchen auf ihrem Weg zur ersten US-Pr\u00c3\u00a4sidentin begleiten. Elena heisst das M\u00c3\u00a4dchen und sie ist kubanisch-amerikanischer Herkunft. In ihrer Schulzeit l\u00c3\u00a4uft es schon nicht alles schnurgeradeaus, aber Elena k\u00c3\u00a4mpft sich durch. Denn Elena will unbedingt die Pr\u00c3\u00a4sidentin der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika werden. Die Geschichte ihrer Kindheit wird auf Grundlage ihres Tagebuches erz\u00c3\u00a4hlt. Die junge Elena wird von Newcomerin Tess Romero gespielt. Charlie Bushnell gibt sein Schauspieldeb\u00c3\u00bct als Bobby, Elenas h\u00c3\u00bcbschem, aber boshaften \u00c3\u00a4lteren Bruder. Selenis Leyva spielt Gabi, ihre intelligente und liebevolle Mutter. Michael Weaver ist Sam, eine Anw\u00c3\u00a4ltin in Gabis Kanzlei, die am Anfang einer Beziehung mit ihr steht.
