Februar feiert der Netflix-Film The Last Thing He Wanted Premiere. Ein Trailer stimmt auf die Geschichte rund um einen Skandal in der Reagan-\u00c3\u201era um die Iran-Contra-Aff\u00c3\u00a4re ein. Ben Affleck und Anne Hathaway spielen die Hauptrollen. Hathaway verk\u00c3\u00b6rpert die Journalistin Elena McMahon, welche den politischen Skandal aufdeckte. The Last Thing He Wanted basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Roman von Joan Didion. Die Journalistin Elena McMahon gibt ihren Posten als Berichterstatterin \u00c3\u00bcber die US-Pr\u00c3\u00a4sidentschaftswahlen bei der Washington Post nach dem Tod ihrer Mutter auf. In Zentralamerika will sie ihren Vater bei einem Auftrag unterst\u00c3\u00bctzen. Im Rahmen dessen trifft sie auf Armeeangeh\u00c3\u00b6rige und US-Agenten, deren Aktivit\u00c3\u00a4ten sie misstrauisch be\u00c3\u00a4ugt. Zudem bemerkt sie, dass ihr Vater in diverse Waffenhandels-Deals verstrickt ist, mit denen die rechtsgerichteten Guerillas in Nicaragua unterst\u00c3\u00bctzt werden sollen. Elena muss sich entscheiden: f\u00c3\u00bcr ihren Vater mit seinen illegalen Gesch\u00c3\u00a4ften oder f\u00c3\u00bcr ihre journalistische Ader, die diese illegalen Waffendeals an die \u00c3\u2013ffentlichkeit bringen will. Doch zu einer eigenen Entscheidung kommt es gar nicht, denn schon stellen sich politische Gruppierungen rund um den Diplomaten Morrison, gespielt von Ben Affleck, in den Weg. Elena schlittert geradewegs in eine massive internationale Verschw\u00c3\u00b6rung hinein. Sp\u00c3\u00a4ter wird diese als Iran-Contra-Aff\u00c3\u00a4re weltber\u00c3\u00bchmt und ist einer der negativen Glanzpunkte in Ronald Reagens zweiter Amtszeit.
