Doch Netflix und Warner Bros wagen sich nach New Line nun ebenfalls an die Geschichte heran. Eine Serie soll entstehen und nun steht auch fest, dass die Dreharbeiten bald starten werden. Von Mai bis Dezember 2020 sollen die Geschichten in einem Londoner Studio in bewegtes Bild und Ton gebracht werden. Elf Episoden soll die erste Staffel von The Sandman umfassen. Drehbuchautor und Showrunner wird Allan Heinberg, bekannt durch Grey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Anatomy oder auch Wonder Woman, sein- Comicsch\u00c3\u00b6pfer Neil Gaiman produziert gemeinsam mit David S-Goyer die Serienumsetzung seiner Kreation. Netflix schaut positiv auf den Drehbeginn, VP Original Series-Chef Chaning Dungey: \u00e2\u20ac\u017eWir freuen uns, mit dem brillanten Team Neil Gaiman, David S. Goyer und Allan Heinberg zusammenzuarbeiten, um Neils kultige Comicserie ,The Sandman&#8217; endlich auf dem Bildschirm zum Leben zu erwecken\u00e2\u20ac\u0153. Von den reichhaltigen Charakteren und Handlungsstr\u00c3\u00a4ngen bis hin zu den kompliziert aufgebauten Welten sind wir begeistert, eine epische Originalserie zu erschaffen, die tief in dieses vielschichtige Universum eintaucht, das von Fans auf der ganzen Welt geliebt wird\u00e2\u20ac\u0153. Im Mittelpunkt der Geschichten steht die Figur Dream, auch bekannt als Morpheus, der ein m\u00c3\u00a4chtiges Abbild der Konzepte des Tr\u00c3\u00a4umens und der Fantasie gilt. Die Graphic Novel umfasst mehr als 2000 Seiten und gilt als Endless-Geschichte, also eigentlich perfekt f\u00c3\u00bcr eine Serie. Der Herrscher des Traumreichs und seine Geschwister Delirium, Desire, Destruction, Despair, Destiny und Death sin die Sieben Ewigen. Sie brauchen im Gegensatz zu den G\u00c3\u00b6ttern keinen Glauben, um zu existieren. IM Comic wird Dream aka Morpheus von einem englischen Okkultisten Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts gefangengenommen. In den Geschichten wird von seiner Befreiung erz\u00c3\u00a4hlt. Dabei spielen aber R\u00c3\u00bcckblenden in die Entwicklung und Geschichte von Dream und seinen Mitstreitern eine wichtige Rolle. Antike, Mittelalter und die fr\u00c3\u00bche Neuzeit sind Thema. Wo genau die Serie ansetzen wird, ist noch nicht bekannt.
