Endlich ist auch auf der Insel Procida das Internet angekommen. Mithilfe eines 56k-Modems, welches der Serie auch ihren Namen gab, kann man die Tore zur Welt \u00c3\u00b6ffnen. Was uns heute unglaublich langsam und archaisch vorkommt, war damals eine Sensation. Eine Gruppe von Freunden, Matilda, Daniel, Sandro und Luca begibt sich in die Weiten des Internets und diese Technologie wird ihr Erwachsenwerden und ihr Liebesleben auf eine unglaubliche Art und Weise ver\u00c3\u00a4ndern. Zwanzig Jahre sp\u00c3\u00a4ter treffen sich die vier Freunde wieder. Sie leben nun in einer Welt, in der das Internet ganz selbstverst\u00c3\u00a4ndlich dazugeh\u00c3\u00b6rt. Sex, Dating, eigentlich alles im Leben l\u00c3\u00a4uft digital und virtuell. Es ist normal geworden, was damals in den Neunzigern die Generation 56k so \u00c3\u00bcberw\u00c3\u00a4ltigt hat. Und die vier, vor allem Matilda und Daniel, entdecken, dass auch zwanzig Jahre sp\u00c3\u00a4ter, dass die Gef\u00c3\u00bchle von damals immer noch da sind. Wird aus dieser mittlerweile losen Freundschaft doch noch die gro\u00c3\u0178e Liebe? Die erste Staffel der Serie Generation 56k umfasst acht Folgen und wurde von der Produktionsfirma Cattleya realisiert. Unterst\u00c3\u00bctzung gab es von den britischen ITV Studios. Hinter der Serie steht ein Kollektiv aus italienischen Comedians, die als The Jackal schon viele Jahre auf YouTube erfolgreich sind.
