Just like three different Spider-Man portrayed with different actors and stories, Dexter has many series and spinoff shows released from 2006 to till now. So, I am giving you basic details about each of them, what to watch, and skip before streaming this one.
- Dexter (2006-2013): This is the OG series that introduced Dexter Morgan to the world as a double agent, analyst, and serial killer.
- Dexter: New Blood (2021-2022): Dexter is using an alias to live in Iron Lake, New York, which is a sequel set a decade after the first release. This is the main series that you need to watch to understand the connecting story.
- Dexter: New Blood (2025 – present): This show is a prequel, exploring Dexter’s life at an early stage, from being a raging kid to an intelligent serial killer.
- Dexter: Resurrection (2025): Resurrection is a direct sequel to New Blood. It shows how he survived the daunting attack and aftermath.

Resurrection, A Classic Finale
Actually, the idea for Dexter: Resurrection came from the protagonist, Michael C. Hall. He mentioned expressing a lot of interest and pitching an original idea to continue the character’s life, and giving a nice ending. Well, “He runs the biggest show”. The director reacted positively, put together the crew, production, created an excellent background story, and made its best finale ever. So keep your expectations high.
When is the Release?
The highly anticipated sequel premieres on July 11 with the partner Paramount+. The first episodes will be released on the same day. And the remaining will be released on Sundays. So, do watch or rewatch if necessary & immerse yourself in the Dexter world.
