After the release of Ready or Not in 2019, I think many people have been eagerly waiting for its sequel. This horror film left the audience applauding its brilliance and creativity. And now, people’s wishes have come true with the announcement of the new movie. Under the banner of Searchlight Productions, the sequel to Ready or Not is set to hit the screen on April 10, 2026. Themed marriage and cursed family as the core idea, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett conceptualised this film, and actors brought life to the characters.
Marriage…A Curse
 Those who have already seen the film will have the idea, but in case those who have missed it, let me give you a backstory. The story centres around Le Domas’s family and their cursed history involving their ancestor Victor le Domas and his deal with the evil Mr. Le Bail. The deal was that Victor le Domas’s family would receive wealth, but in return, whenever a new member of the family drew the hide-and-seek card, they would be required to make a human sacrifice before dawn.
Thirty years later, therefore, to continue the tradition and live longer, Victor le Domas’s family–Daniel, Alex, Tony, Emilie, Charity, Becky, Helene, and other close butlers and kin search for a new member to be sacrificed. One day, Alex marries a girl named Grace, who grew up in foster care. Unbeknownst to the tradition, Grace participates in the game and draws a card, which sets off a terrifying chain of events ahead.Â
The Hunt Begins Now
Initially, Grace believes the game to be fun, but when the entire Victor le Domas family hunt her down to kill, she realises. On this dangerous journey, Grace seeks help from her husband, Alex, who guides and protects her indeed. However, the family tradition overrules the love. This hide-and-seek game traumatises Grace to the core, and she escapes every time when one of the family members tries to kill her. Meanwhile, a few maids of the house are killed on this hunt, thus elevating Grace’s fear to the next level.
Lone Survivor
Grace’s marriage to Alex did not go well; she had hoped for a healthy and happy life after marriage. Because of the tradition, Grace had to fight to survive by facing the threats around her. As the sun rose, each cursed family member exploded one by one, leaving Grace as the sole survivor.

Speaking of a sequel to this film, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come has some intriguing elements. Notably, Samara Weaving reprised her role as Grace, and with the addition of a new starcast, has created a buzz around the town. Helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, this sequel offers a new set of horror elements by blending drama and romance. With a strong technical team, actors, and sublime music composers, this sequel is all set to rock the theatre next year.
Although plot lines remain under wraps, the shooting concluded on June 5, 2025. The movie, set against the backdrop of the beautiful locations of Toronto, leaves the audience captivated throughout its journey. However, people must wait to watch till the upcoming year; it is worth the wait.
