In 2007, one movie that changed the perception of Indian society in terms of their children’s upbringing was “Taare Zameen Par.” It highlighted how parents, peer pressure, and societal norms affect young, developing minds. How parents often fail to understand their children’s struggles and instead constantly push them toward success, rather than acknowledging psychological realities.
Even today, we might see parents pressuring their children to pursue what is good in society and finally underscore their dreams, because it will not lead anywhere. If a child is slow in learning or falling behind in developing new skills, parents or neighbours might compare that child with others, thereby building low self-esteem in the child. This constant comparison and pressure can affect the child’s emotional growth and confidence, leading to anxiety, depression, or a lack of motivation.
Having this as the core theme, director Aamir Khan crafted an exceptional story revolving around a specially gifted child, Ishaan, played by Darsheel Safary. This 8-year-old boy suffers from Dyslexia and is persistently poor in academics, leaving parents worried about his future, thus sending the boy to boarding school. The boy struggles to concentrate initially, but later, due to the arrival of the art teacher, his lifestyle changes. After the release of this film, it created a milestone in Indian cinema and gave a new dimension to the understanding of learning disabilities in mainstream society. To commemorate the prequel, now, after 18 years, director R. S. Prasanna and producer Aamir Khan built a sequel, Sitaare Zameen Par.
What Is The Buzz?
The literal meaning of Sitaare Zameen Par is Stars on Earth. Though it is a sequel to the movie “Taare Zameen Par”, the story is completely different. Inspired by the Spanish movie “Champions”, this film unfolds the journey of a suspended basketball coach training specially abled players for an upcoming tournament. After the trailer release, people were impressed by Aamir Khan’s role as the coach and the subtle humour throughout the story. This film features an ensemble cast, while Genelia Deshmukh appears as the leading character on the big screen after a very long time, since her last movie “Trial Period” in 2023. Sitaare Zameen Par has promising crews– from the music composer to the cinematographer.

Special Screenings
Recently, Aamir Khan held a special screening of this movie for his family members; his new girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, was also spotted. Apart from Aamir’s family, Genelia graced the event with her presence and added charm to the night.
