Aamir Khan is finally back with a full-time entertaining film, after his box office bomb Laal Singh Chaddha. It’s Sitaare Zameen Par. Also, don’t get confused by the fact that it is a sequel to his iconic film Taare Zameen Par. No! Just a similar name and elements, but bringing a very enlightening story of para-athletes in India. The film is released today, June 20. So, let’s get into a detailed review of Sitaare Zameen Par and the surrounding news.

The Real Heroes

Sitaare Zameen Par is a remake of a 2018 Spanish film, “Champions”, with Desi emotions and patriotism. In this, Aamir Khan is an entitled basketball coach who gets demoted because of his poor temper management and drinking issues. He gets assigned to community service, not just any, but preparing a group of disabled players for the upcoming tournament. For facts, all are non-actors, but real Down syndrome patients.

Visuals and Vibes

Well, you know Aamir Khan’s enthusiastic nature and approach to creating films and shows continue with his latest venture, Sitaare Zameen Par. If you watch it with low expectations, it’s another emotional masterpiece.

However, it’s crucial to note that, “Copy-Paste” or Undying remake trend of Bollywood is gathering negative reviews as well. The original film, Champions, is not that old, so if you’ve seen that film, then obviously the comparison arises. But, director R.S. Prasanna has left so much potential for “Sitaare Zameen Par”, untouched. The film crew chose to just portray what they could show rather than risk going deep into their characters. Because of that, this film became another sports drama, just in different colours.

Crafting Characters

Aamir Khan, as a drunkard and arrogant coach, did decent acting, nothing praiseworthy, compared to his excellent skills in Dangal. His pairing with  Genelia Deshmukh is a star move. The couple looks fresh and very convincing. As for the kids who are real heroes, those suffering from mental and physical disabilities steal the show.

We will get tears, as how difficult it is for them to enact something like this and make perfectly cracked jokes to make us laugh. Sitaare Zameen Par’s soul is surely inside their emotions, and at the climax, you will feel patriotic and proud of their achievements.

Box Office Collection and Reviews

As for the first day, the film has managed to start well, with a gross collection of 1.68 Cr in all languages. This speed will be sustained since it’s the weekend. However, Dhanush’s awaited film, Kubera, is clashing at the Box Office. We have to see which one wins.

Music and Sound Design

The songs are limited but work the deed. The songs given by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, “Good for Nothing” and “Sar Aankhon Pe Mere‘ received a good number of positive lines. However, the background score by Ram Sampath doesn’t stand out in the movie. The reason why Taare Zameen Par is still trending is because of super soothing songs, which we still listen to. Did Sitaare Zameen Par reach that par? Not really.
