After his recent release, GOAT, actor Thalapathy Vijay reportedly mentioned joining politics, putting an end to his grandeur in film life. Good news, it has been extended, this time fans’ expectations are off the roof, and the whole of South India is waiting for this moment. Jana Nayagan poster has officially dropped just now. Let’s see here. This might be his last cinema for a long career break or end, read along for more details.
The Grand Birthday Tribute
A big fan moment for Thalapathy as the makers premiered, Jana Nayagan: The First Roar poster, right at midnight. This Sunday, 22nd June, marks his 51st birthday and more than three decades of dedication and love to cinema. The title dictates “The People’s leader”, potentially the last film before he officially partake politics.
This mysterious title was “Thalapathy 69” since September 2024, until this January, they announced “Jana Nayagan”. It’s a political police action film with a strong promotion of Thalapathy’s leadership and contribution to the people. KVN productions are foreseeing a commercial budget of 300 crores, and it’s directed by H. Vinod.
Story and Characters
Indeed, Jana Nayagan marks his 69th film, bringing the vintage and unique style of Vijay back as a fearless cop with a high-octane storyline. The lead cast is finalized with Pooja Hegde as the heroine after the success of Beast and Bobby Deol as the antagonist. We have actors like Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, and Revathi in crucial roles supporting the story. As for music, it’s Anirudh Ravichander roped in for his grand reprisal, and the success of past Thalapathy films like Leo and Theri soundtracks. So we can expect a blast of BGM loading for us. Even the poster music is excellent.
Ambition and Politics
Vijay is an outspoken yet reserved person. From 2018, even before, the actor mentioned his ambition and love to serve the people of his homeland, Tamil Nadu. He established an independent party, “Tamilaga Vettri Kazahagam,” in February 2024. His appeal targets the ruling parties, DMK at the state level and the BJP at the National level.
Well, Tamil Nadu has a long history of actor-turned-politicians, M. Karunanidhi, MGR, Jayalalitha, and even today’s superstars like Rajinikanth (Rajini Makkal Mandram) and Kamal Hassan (Makkal Neethi Maiam Party) are prominent names. It’s quite a dominant field with historical state parties like DMK and AIADMK surviving without any alliances. So, only time can tell whether Vijay can withstand the resistance or dissolve the party.

Vijay has already covered a strong voting concept in Sarkar, which was a slow movie. But this time, the lion is ready to roar in a grand political backdrop.
