Following Iran’s missile strikes on US military bases located in Qatar, including Al Udeid airbase, there was a surge of geopolitical tension. This prompted the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar to close their airspace entirely. Consequently, flights to and from these countries got canceled and travelers were left in chaos.
Vineet Kumar Singh’s experience Vineet follows up via his Instagram stories recounting events as they unfold: “T- Minus 3 hours until Boarding with some more additional fingercrossing and Magical Announcements promising takeoff.”
“Although the flight departure time was a bit late, everything else was good. Ranging from Emirates Airlines to the airport Dubai staff, everyone assisted without any issues.” Emirates and Dubai airport personnel calm and orderly saw to the problem and praise is well deserved.
Flight Back to Mumbai and Effects
Vineet’s flight finally departs at around 12:00 PM local time. His connecting landing in Mumbai was at approximately 3:45 AM IST on Tuesday (Vancouver date).
As soon as he reached out, his followers on social media updated it with information simply saying, “Landed. Mumbai.”
The restriction of airspaces served as an additional security measure due to offensive missile launches, forcing other airlines such as Emirates and Dubai to either suspend operations or halt servicing conflict zones within Iran and Iraq until after June 30.
