Tollywood is on fire with the release of back-to-back commercial flicks at the pan-India level. After Pushpa 2, we have HIT: The Third Case with Natural Star Nani and Srinidhi Shetty as protagonists. The third installment of the Homicide Intervention Team film series, written and directed by Sailesh Kolanu, was released recently on May 9th. Let’s see if it’s a hit or miss!
What is the Sarkar’s Investigation?
Arjun Sarkar, aka Nani, is a gruesome police officer who believes in killing criminals at the cost of innocents. The film starts with Arjun’s flashback of being saved from jail by a fellow prisoner. He joins the HIT team; soon, other policemen discover him committing murder in a ritual and recording them. On confrontation, we understand that Sarkar is infiltrating a dark web place called CTK.
What is CTK? How are they openly committing crimes in society? Also, how is Mridula, aka Srinishi Shetty, connected to all these? Will Arjun succeed in stopping this killing spree? Curious! Watch HIT: The Third Case in your nearest theaters, it has a good plot.
Visuals and Vibes
The movie is Nani’s one-man show. His brutality managed to keep the suspense & thrill till the climax. Also, following the bandwagon of the previous HIT films, the story is set in the Hyderabad background along with cameos from connected characters like KD (HIT 2). However, three films have majorly standalone stories, so don’t worry, new fans!
The second half is intensely gripping with major fights. They are well-choreographed and engaging. Further, an intense climax with many revelations and sacrifices all ends the film on a good note. In fact, cinematographer Sanu John Varghese deserves special appreciation for upgrading the film’s dark atmosphere and appeal.Â
Crafting Characters
From the beginning, Arjun’s character is clear-cut in that he is a ruthless police officer. But the film’s heavy reliance on extreme violence and psychopathy has created a negative impact, especially on family audiences. Mridula’s role as the police is unjustified. She deserved more screen time and cruciality. The villain, aka Prateik Babbar as CTK leader, worked, but the lack of the character’s involvement prior to the story lacks depth.Â
On partake, the film’s main theme is organ trafficking, i.e., they abduct internal organs from victims under stress for adrenaline, which is said to be an efficient ingredient in making medicines for fertility and anti-aging. This nuanced storyline as a whole works all these minor deficiencies work.
Music and Sound Design
Popular music director Mickey J. Meyer’s tunes, especially as background score, doesn’t uplift the suspense. Let’s say it’s not made for this movie. However, the love song sung by Sid Sriram and Nutana Mohan called “Prema Velluva” is a decent score to enjoy.

Final Verdict
HIT: The Third Case is a good attempt at medical crime thrillers. The action scenes with intense hero appeal and camerawork are excellent. But falls short in the predictability, depth, and pacing. It’s surely a good theatrical watch if you go with fewer expectations. However, if you are sensitive to gritty violence and self-harm, then avoid it’s better!
