Do you know how some shows are just made to grab you with little details that make you watch non-stop? That’s exactly what severance does. Apple TV+’s Severance is a mind-bending psychological thriller that takes corporate dystopia to chilling extremes.
Apple TV+’s Severance is a mind-blowing, psychological thriller that takes corporate dystopia to chilling extremes. Created by Dan Erickson and directed in part by Ben Stiller.
The Storyline (Season 1)
The show follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott), an employee of Lumon Industries who has undergone the “severance” procedure, a surgical division between his work and personal consciousness. His “innie” exists only at work, knowing nothing of the outside world, while his “outie” has no memory of what happens inside the office. But when a former colleague reappears under strange circumstances, Mark begins to question everything about his seemingly controlled reality.
The Characters
Especially the main character, Tramell Tillman as Mr. Milchick. He brings layers to his character, making you feel comfortable one minute and terrified the next. His dancing scene is memorable! Harmony Cobel’s delivery sometimes reminds me of Meryl Streep, with a fascinating carefree quality that adds intrigue to her character.
The Cinematography
A lot of creative shots with camera work. The acting is well done as well, with a few notable exceptions. The score, albeit limited to 6 or so repeating songs, served the series fine. However, those elements alone aren’t enough to save the show.
The Story (Season 2)
The show masterfully blends a chilling corporate dystopia with a compelling mystery, keeping you guessing at every turn. Mark Scout’s journey to unravel the secrets of Lumon Industries and his “innie” self is both captivating and disturbing, fueled by strong performances, particularly Adam Scott’s nuanced portrayal. The show’s distinctive visual style and unsettling score further enhance the atmosphere, creating a pervasive sense of unease that lingers long after each episode ends.

Is it better than season 1?
Stellar cast, surrealistic storylines, intriguing diversions, disturbing parallels with the real world, and enough narrative pay-off to enable Messrs. Erickson and Stiller to avoid the death threats Patrick McGoohan received after The Roll on Season 3. Genre– (Thriller, Sci-fi )
IMDb Rating – 8.7/10 (Rated by 313k+ Viewers)
