Bollywood icon Sanjay Dutt is set to headline the upcoming horror-comedy The Bhootnii, which will now hit theatres on May 1, 2025. Initially scheduled for release on April 18, the film’s date was pushed back to allow for final touches in post-production.

A Paranormal Plot with a Comic Twist

Set in the eerie confines of St. Vincent College, the story revolves around supernatural disturbances that rattle the campus. At the heart of these hauntings lies a mysterious “Virgin Tree,” which is believed to awaken its spirit every Valentine’s Day, targeting those who dare to mock or disturb it. As chaos escalates, the college summons a mystical paranormal expert, Ghostbuster Baba, portrayed by Sanjay Dutt, to uncover and battle the unseen forces.

Meet the Cast

Joining Dutt is a vibrant ensemble featuring Mouni Roy as the titular spirit, along with Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, and Aasif Khan. In his new avatar, Dutt channels a warrior-like energy, equipped with swords and a grim persona reminiscent of pop culture’s famous ghost hunters.

Behind the Camera

The film is written and directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, with production helmed by Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt himself. The project also involves Hunar Mukut and Maanayata Dutt as co-producers. The Bhootnii is being distributed globally by Zee Studios, in association with Soham Rockstar Entertainment and Three Dimension Motion Pictures.

Box Office Showdown Ahead

The May 1 release date places The Bhootnii in direct competition with Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh’s Raid 2. The two films will clash at the box office on Labour Day, which also coincides with Maharashtra Day, a significant public holiday in the state.

Teaser and Audience Reaction

The official teaser and trailer have received a positive buzz online. Sanjay Dutt’s intense presence, merged with moments of comic relief, has intrigued fans and promises a thrilling cinematic experience filled with spooky fun and action.
