Who doesn’t know Glen Powell? He is Hollywood’s emerging and talented actor. Obviously, when we hear his name, we immediately remember the name Hangman from Top Gun. Since 2003, he has entertained us with his movies of different genres. Glen made his first appearance in the film Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and later appeared in Fast Food Nation. Even with limited screen time, he managed to draw the audience’s attention with his charismatic acting.

Apart from acting, Glen has recently ventured into his own condiment store–Smash Kitchen. Here, people can buy organic products–Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, special hot honey ketchup and spicy mayo- by placing an order online or visiting to nearby Walmart store, and Walmart.com. College days are always cherished because of the beautiful memories that we carry on as we move ahead. Underlying this theme, the director Richard Linklater crafted a story about a group of college students against the backdrop of 1980s Texas. It mainly focuses on freshman Jake Bradford, played by Blake Jenner, and his group, whom he befriends upon entering the college campus.

The film unfolds their daily lifestyle on campus, their bonding with each other, and fun-filled activities like going to the pub and drinking, attending concerts, all while navigating their love life. Glen is one among the group; his character, Walt “Finn” Finnegan, brings a unique energy and depth to the ensemble. Though his screen time is limited, he makes a lasting impression with his charismatic presence.

As the name itself says–Set It Up, so the idea is pretty clear, right? Yes, this film, directed by Claire Scanlon, is a rom-com that refreshingly blends humour and romance, with standout performances from its talented ensemble cast. Starring Glen Powell as Charlie Young, and Zoey Deutch as Harper Moore, navigate their personal lives as assistants to their respective bosses while setting up their bosses on dates. However, eventually this set up leads to another plot turn–Charlie and Harper’s romance. Glen, as Charlie, delivered an incredible performance in the film. The film explores the themes of trust, love, and relationships.

Many people would think that Glen donning the hat of pilot for Top Gun was his first experience as an aviator. But no, his wingman character for the film Devotion actually marked his first time portraying a pilot, bringing depth and authenticity to the role as a loyal friend and fellow aviator. Director J. D. Dillard captured the nuances of war majestically. The film revolves around Jesse L.

Brown, the first black Navy pilot, played by Jonathan Majors, and Tom Hudner, a Lieutenant Junior Grade, played by Glen Powell. It chronicles their bond as wingmen during the Korean War, highlighting the challenges they face both in the air and in a racially segregated military. However, their friendship is challenged by the dangers of war, but it shows how brave and loyal they both are in overcoming the issues.

Glen underwent special aviation training for this film. Because Top Gun required original stunts, and aviation skills were on priority. In many interviews, Glen has expressed his gratitude to actor Tom Cruise for his support and the opportunity provided for this film. Though Top Gun: Maverick revolves around Tom as Captain Pete Mitchell, training a new generation of pilots for dangerous missions. Glen, being one of the upcoming pilots, acts as a saviour during a battle at the end. This film opened the doors for Glen to gain more opportunities in the Hollywood industry. 

Anyone But You

A love story between two contrasting personalities leads to a complicated situation when one of the people confronts the past. Sweeny as Beatrice “Bea” Messina bumps into Glen as Ben in a coffee shop. This unexpected meeting blossoms into a love story, but later, due to a difference in opinion, their love story takes a different turn. However, Glen and Sweeny’s chemistry definitely made a remarkable impression on the audience. Overall, it is pretty evident that Glen Plowell’s films contain all the elements required for family entertainment audiences.  At present, Glen is busy working on The Running Man film, and the other two projects–one is under post-production and the second is yet to be decided.
