Everybody loves Wednesday’s Enid Sinclair. Her bubbly and colorful character has a classic entertaining vibe. Today, we are talking about her recent mainstream murder mystery series,” A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder.” Let’s see if it’s a hit or miss!!
Investigation Report: Missing or Dead
Pippa Fitz-Amobi, aka Pip, is in her final year of high school, and as her project thesis, she chose to investigate the mystery around Andie Bell’s disappearance, case happened five years ago. The plot twist is that her boyfriend suddenly confesses he murdered her and suicide. Pip is determined that Sal is innocent, so she starts approaching the close web of family and friends like Sal’s brother Ravi, Naomi, Max Hastings, and more. Slowly, she deals with everyone, opening the onion’s peel of secrets & secrets to the real-real truth.
Vibe: Clues, Hatred, and Truth
Well, uncovering the murder mystery of teenagers is not an uncommon subject, as we already have shows like “13 Reasons Why”, “Pretty Little Liars”, “Elite”, and more. So what is special, if you ask, I think the story is gripping and deeply resonates with characters. Well, it’s not so easy to guess the killer until you reach the last episode, it thoroughly reveals everybody’s dirty little secrets and connections lead to a chain reaction-like situation that made Andie Bell and Salil Singh the scapegoats. So yeah, there is a vibe & it will grow on you.
Excellent Novel Adaptation
This time, Netflix’s effort of adapting Holly Jackson’s novel into a mystery teen series is a successful bet that won the hit gamble. Because makers were true to the original story, which even elevates the whole emotions, manipulations, and people. It feels like Pip is now living in reality and is brave to give justice to the scarred and dead. However, some parts fall flat like Pip knows exactly what to do every time & her hunch is never wrong, which is unreal and like kills the joy of suspense.
Special Soundtrack
The background score & indie tunes are one of the main elements that add show’s value. They know what they want in songs, because it’s rare to see episode-by-episode songs that make the mood. They went for less popular yet powerful bangers. For example, we have “Me and the Devil”- Gill Scott Herron, “Seize the Power”- Yonaka, “In the Big Mood”- BBC Big Band, etc. Many songs are receiving love because of this show.

Solo or Trilogy?
The novel is in three books, and Emma Myers, in a recent interview, has clarified the air that she would love to portray her role in all of them. Of course, this is not an official confirmation of renewal, but other seasons give us deep insights into Pip’s journey and investigation of cases. Hopefully, you can always read the novels, waiting for sequels.
Final Verdict
If you are into teen shows with dark and grey concepts like moral manipulation, intense emotional swings, and Drug substance, then you will definitely love A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. However, if you are opposite side of the bridge & not quite a fan of disturbing theories, then skip.
