Who is Deva?
The story is set in a 90s gangster background, following a port collie, Deva (Rajinikanth). He runs a successful and most powerful underground Gold-smuggling network from Chennai seaport. If you see him, the humble appearance of an old labourer that no one might notice in the busy harbour. His resilient and determined nature to protect and help fellow workers from corrupt officials portrays him as a good man.
In disguise, he is a mastermind who is distributing and controlling all the South Asian Syndicates. This is the backdrop for the plotline with Dayal, Kaleesa, and Rajasekhar as his comrades and old enemies. The trailer asks for Azaad, but who is the character? And how is it related to Deva and his syndicate reforms? Takes the rest of the story.
Vibe: Manik Basha is Returning
Just like Rajinikanth’s legendary character Basha. Coolie covers Deva’s struggles and rise coming as a young portslave to one and only boss of the sea docks. In the official trailer released by Tseries, there’s a mysterious character, apparently Azaad as the villain, and a new smuggling route with International ties by Kaleesha, Upendra, as a ruthless kingpin.
While Simon is an old friend turned enemy and Shruthi Haasan might portray a customs officer aiming to shut down the entire syndicate, leaving him with no options but to fight for his empire and protect it from all the overpowering threats. The plotline is very interesting and promises super action with empathy and relations to be central motives.

However, Lokesh Kangaraj mentioned taking inspirational ideas from films like Don and Kaala, writing in his style.
Likewise, most of the shooting took place in Vizag, Chennai Harbor, and container parks dealing with heavy loads of gritty action and 100% pure fun for the fans.

When is the Release?
Well, two high-budget films are getting ready for large clash at the global boxoffice, as Coolie is premering on August 14 along with Hrithik Roshan and NTR’s War 2 targeting the Independence day weekend. Lokesh Kangaraj has a high superhit rate and is known for creating a unique perspective of films like Kaithi and Leo, mainly in Drug smuggling elements. In Collie, they even have a powerful cameo with Aamir Khan.
