Over the past two years, from 2022-23, BTS members have started enlisting separately & in pairs to finish their mandatory military services. Fans were heartbroken because in Korea, these 18 months are termed as the toughest and real transformation for men. Well, good news awaits, as all of them have completed their regimen and back safely.
Story of Declined Military Plea
Their Mega-dollar production house, HYBE, started a campaign in 2021, requesting the cancellation of military services. Even though BTS has promoted patriotism in UNICEF and other International stages, their government doesn’t exempt these duties until a life-threatening health issue or a special case to plead. South Korean officials negotiated to extend the period of the BTS members’ age limit. For regular men, they have to finish the conscription period between 18 to 28 years, which they increased to 30 years.
HYBE has agreed to undertake conditions and artists used the past two years of 2021-22 producing superhit songs like Butter and many solo releases before their eldest member Jin took off first service at the late 29 years. After a one-year gap, older members Jhope and Suga also took off. Then maknae idols volunteered together, RM and V registered on the same day in December, and one day later, Jimin and Jungkook also got enlisted.

BTS Service Commitment
Well, BTS is one step closer to reunite, as SUGA suffered a shoulder injury which caused him to serve as a replacement social service, which is soon to finish on 21st June this Saturday. The members, right after exemption, have connected with their loyal fans in the official BTS fan app, Weverse, where each of them expressed their experiences and journey as ranking soldiers in the active service time.
It’s a difficult stage, especially for BTs to live in barracks, grow through sergeant ranks, and work in positions without contact with the outside world. In the choice of the Army, Air Force, & Navy, which are 18 to 21 months operationally. They have served the full length Army period in the Chuncheon Base and were praised for their excellence.
From real Talent to Army Roles
Well, South Korean Military titles like Special Warrior, Elite Trainee, Platoon Leader, or Sergeant roles are given to cadets who are extra good in areas like shooting, discipline, endurance, leadership, or camaraderie. Most of them worked under different services & have earned the merit. Thus become leaders for field work in military services.
Surprisingly, these roles come from their real talents as well. RM, the leader of the BTS, has worked with the Military music band, while Jeon Jungkook, the best cook out of the BTS, has become the Head chef of their military culinary regimen, which is really a hard job to crack. Just like that, all others worked in their respective roles. See the list below.
