We all need to relax to escape this routine world—a break from the real World. And what’s a better way than immersing yourself in your favourite Game World? But Netflix has a Better option—why play when you can watch and Experience?  Netflix’s Devil May Cry is screening to take you by your hand and fight one-on-one with the Demons, being on your favorite character – Dante’s Side.

What the Fans Hated:

Despite DMC already having a loyal video game fanbase, the adaptation sparked criticism for taking too many liberties.

This Ain’t Dante’s Story Anymore

Dante was emasculated, sidelined, and reduced to comedic relief in his franchise. He seemed like a side character in his show. He appeared like a guest character in the “Lady Show.”

Lady’s Role overpowered Dante.

Dante, being the protagonist, is often sidelined and overpowered by Lady (Mary), who is shown as much smarter, more competent, and a Girlboss, unlike the Game version. She constantly outshines Dante, both in competence and screen time – a move that didn’t sit well with longtime fans of the original dynamics.

Lady Is F-bombing the Whole Script

The Dialogue Writing of Lady is so Substandard and gives off a Wannabe Gen-Z Vibe, She barely has any dialogue without the F-word. The Overuse of profanity made her sound juvenile and annoying.

In DMC, the Demons are indeed crying.

Fans are disliking the sudden flip in the narrative. Where Demons are portrayed as victims and express how Humans are the ones that are bothering them. They are being “oppressed” by humans. Like, Really! What were the writers thinking while writing this? There’s also a whole monologue, which is irrelevant.

Bad Dialogue, Cringe Writing

Viewers are radically disappointed by how the Characters spoke like try-hard teenagers pretending to be edgy. Plot devices were clichéd, rushed, or made no sense. Moreover, The Attempts to explain the demon world scientifically backfired.

What the Fans Liked:

Even if the Dislikes overpower the Likes, DMC is not a terrible adaptation of the Game. Here’s why.

Dante’s Voice & Charismatic Personality – The Easy-Going, Back Personality of Dante makes him an irresistible character. The more he comes on the screen, the more He feels like a Breath of Fresh Air.  JYB’s Voice as Dante is the cherry on top

Animation & Fights: Unlike the video game version, it’s Still Visually exciting, especially the final battle.  Fans admitted it looked cool even when they didn’t vibe with the story. Cliffhanger Ending: The tease of Vergil and the setup for Season 2 left fans cautiously optimistic. Even with the flaws, the ending offers enough intrigue to pull viewers back for more.

Is DMC Worth a WATCH?

Don’t let the criticism hold you back from enjoying this action-packed, energy-efficient animated twist on the franchise. Every adaptation comes with its set of flaws, and DMC is no different.

The Creative Liberty was heavily criticized because it lacked a strong alignment with the source. Some deemed it as Creative, Others as disrespectful, & Setting a Selective Narrative. But if you’re craving some devilishly stylish action, sharp swordplay, and a little chaos, then hit play. As every true DMC fan says, “It can’t be bad… because it has Dante.”
