Lalettan has done many impactful roles, yet if we specifically talk about one, he changed the perspective on family cinema. Our favourite Georgekutty is returning in threequel.

Yes! Drishyam III has officially begun shooting, but not only in Malayalam, Ajay Devgn is also reprising as Vijay Salgonkar, directed by Abhishek Pathak, targeting the Bollywood market. Is this a film clash, or are they working together?

The Plot

Drishyam 2 finished with law’s defeat again, the mother gets her deceased son’s ashes for cremation. Georgekutty outsmarts everyone by completely transforming the theory. There are some loose ends, like evidence of burial or witness. Well, the teaser seemed to be returning, where everything started, and this time, silence will speak the truth.

Might be an unexpected date clash, but both Mohnalal’s Drishyam and Devgn’s version have released news with a little gap that shooting has begun. Also original part is by the OG director Jeethu Joseph, while the Hindi part is directed by Abhishek Pathak. They have released a schedule to release a Hindi film on October 2nd of 2026.

Both A-grade actors are working in the same storyline as the backbone, but all further developments will be very, very different. Ajay Devgn mentioned adjusting the story suitable for their style and choices. While Lalettan emphasizes on emotional arc. So it became Malayalam vs Hindi Audience on a big-scale stage.

Cast and Characters

As usual, the family of Georgekutty is returning, Mohanalal, Meena, Esther Anil, & Ansiba Hassan are re-adorning their glory characters. Indeed, Asha Sharath is joining them, continuing the triquel story of vengeance, truth, and perseverance. As for now, we don’t know any roles, but rumours are rolling that the film falls back to roots, the first part. It will be another intense psychological war of outsmarting the law over countless ethical dilemmas and emotional closure, centering on karma.

Grand Director

Jeethu Joseph has done an amazing job in both Drishyam 2013, Drishyam 2. It’s really hard to pull off sequels, especially in such a closed concept. He introduced distinct and shocking twists that nobody expected to see. Even in Telugu, the audience loved the narrative. So his plan for the thirdquel is already hyped on social media. We can expect bigger disclosures, maybe truths hidden inside.

Remakes and Versatility

The original version, Malayalam Drishyam, released in 2013, immediately captured the attention of film lovers, and it became a worldwide franchise. It’s been remade in many regional languages consecutively over the years. In Kannada, V. Ravinchandran’s Drishya and in Telugu, Venkatesh Daggubati’s Drushyam were released in 2014. Later, Ajay Devgn helmed the role as Drishyam (2015) and Papanasanam in Tamil, both made good box office collections. It went international too, it’s remade as Dharmayuddhaya, a Sinhala language film in 2017, and a Chinese film “Sheep Without a Shepard” in 2019.
