Could one of the world’s biggest pop icons be lending his voice to Bollywood’s most iconic superstar? Ed Sheeran has officially confirmed his long-rumoured Bollywood singing debut and fans are in a frenzy trying to figure out who, and what, it’s for.
After years of global hits, sold-out stadium tours, and cross-cultural collaborations, Sheeran’s entry into Hindi cinema is making waves not just in India, but across the globe.
“A Proper Bollywood Song”: Time to Decode
The Grammy-winning British singer-songwriter announced during a recent interview, casually revealing, “I’ve just done a song for a Bollywood movie. It’s a proper Bollywood song, and I had so much fun recording it.”
While he kept the finer details under wraps, the internet didn’t wait to fill in the blanks. Within hours, #EdInBollywood was trending, and theories began flying faster, linking it to SRK’s Upcoming Project “King”.
Is “Ed” really singing for ”King”?
The film directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan alongside his daughter Suhana Khan, has already become the talk of the town.
But here’s where it gets interesting and Spicy. Earlier this year, composer Pritam, who is scoring ‘King’ hinted that an international collaboration was in the works. Around the same time, SRK himself teased fans by saying “you’ll hear voices in this film you didn’t expect.”
Fans didn’t pay much attention then. Now, the dots are connecting and it’s hard not to imagine Ed’s unmistakable vocals in an emotional Bollywood sequence.
If confirmed, this would be SRK’s second major global musical collaboration, following the iconic “Chammak Challo” with Akon back in 2011.
Other opportunities: Not Just King
Of course, King isn’t the only big-ticket Bollywood film in the pipeline. Sources have whispered about Sheeran potentially collaborating on a standalone track for a major Netflix India project or a multi-star YRF romantic drama set abroad.
India’s “Sapphire Success”, Collab That Started the Fire.
This isn’t Ed Sheeran’s first dance with Bollywood royalty. Earlier in 2025, the Sapphire project: A global crossover featuring Arijit Singh, dropped like a sonic bomb. The track had a catchy Punjabi flair, but what stole the show? A surprise visual cameo by Shah Rukh Khan himself.
The Sapphire moment was so massive that even Newsslash’s Instagram rode the wave with over 19 million views in a matter of days. If that semi-Bollywood collab caused a digital landslide, imagine the storm a full-fledged Bollywood banger would unleash.
