The Conjuring universe, known for supernatural horror and evil, has long been serving fans with vengeful ghosts based on true events. Their upcoming highly anticipated and also the last installment of the film series, “The Conjuring: The Last Rites,” is all set to premiere globally in theaters on Sept. 5th of this year. Shows and Movies to watch before the Premiere
It’s really important to rewatch all the Conjuring films in ascending order of events for a better understanding of this film. The concept trailer has clearly indicated, linking the storyline to the most dangerous villains in the Conjuring Universe. Let’s see what to watch.
- The Nun (2018)—The Nun (Valak), a super demonic entity and also the main villain of Conjuring 4, is introduced here. It’s set in 1952 Romania’s Saint Cartha monastery, and the film presents a priest and nun’s investigation & protecting victims from evil.
- Annabelle: Creation (2017)—Another paranormal entity shown in the trailer is the Annabelle doll. This film helps the audience to explain its origin: how, unknowingly, a small girl releases hidden demonic possessions. We can also see how it became cursed.
- Annabelle Comes Home (2019)—This helps in discovering more of Warren’s home & haunted artifacts. In this, a babysitter’s friend unleashes multiple spirits.
- The Conjuring 1 and 2 – These films will help you learn more about the Warrens and their involvement in exorcism.
- The Nun II (2024)—This film is crucial because the climax is directly linked to hinting at the Last Rites. Valek’s power is growing; something dark is coming.
Apart from these, you can binge “The Curse of Llalorna” & “Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” which are loosely connected to some characters of this film.

Good news for “Now You See Me” fans is that almost 90% of the original cast in both installments linking to their origin and first mass theft are back in this movie. As usual, the VFX and Visuals play the major role in the haunted Conjuring films. This time, expect more suspense & horror scenes since both AnnaBelle and Nun are coming at the same time. IF you do watch it in theaters, it’s going to be one epic experience. The Nun II might’ve disappointed with non-horrific scenes, but The Last Rites concept trailers seem to have long-standing mystery and fear. It’s going to be a treat for horror fans.
