Wait… Big Mouth Is Ending?! Okay, real talk? When I heard Big Mouth is dropping its final season this year, my jaw hit the floor faster than Hormone Monstress snatching a diva cup!

This show didn’t just crack dirty jokes, it cracked open taboo topics with zero chill and maximum chaos.  From the first time I heard the words “bubble bath” come out of a monster’s mouth, I knew this wasn’t your average cartoon. It was raw, real, ridiculous, and unforgettable.

What’s Big Mouth?

If puberty had a megaphone, it would sound like Big Mouth. At its core, Big Mouth is an animated coming-of-age series that follows a group of preteens (and their raging hormone lava) through the confusing, gross, and hilarious journey of puberty.

The twist? Their emotions are literal characters – Hormone Monsters, Shame Wizards, Depression Kitties, and even a Logic Rock (yes, really). It’s bold, awkward, and somehow… educational?

The Legacy: A Monster-Sized Impact

Sadly, the legacy is ending, but the show will be missed for its craziness, bluntness, and shamelessness. If you like Quagmire from Family Guy, you’ll like these monsters more…haha.

But on a serious note, it’s not just all laughs. I’ve learned so much about puberty from this. The things I once thought were stupid or my fault. I realized they were just part of growing up. This show is great. I’m all down for the Hormone Monstress; she’s an idol now! They taught people a lot. Fans are sad but excited to watch the final ride.

Over the seven-season run. Let’s be honest: Big Mouth didn’t just push the envelope – it shredded it, danced on it, and then moaned loudly in a school hallway. But beneath all that raunchy humor was a powerful truth: growing up is messy, and that’s okay. This show helped normalize conversations around:

  • Mental health
  • Sexuality and identity
  • Body image & consent
  • Family trauma – all without pretending to be preachy.

For many viewers, especially Gen Z and younger millennials, Big Mouth was the first show that made them feel seen for their weird, uncomfortable teenage years. Big Mouth was their therapist, their puberty navigator. That’s legacy, baby.

Why Did Fans (Especially Americans) Love It So Much?

Taboo Topics? Unlocked!

Americans love content that doesn’t sugarcoat real issues, and Big Mouth served it raw. It didn’t just reflect puberty; it exaggerated it to the point of absurdity and somehow made it comforting.

Zero Filter, Max Realness

It wasn’t afraid to talk about erections, periods, anxiety, porn, shame, or identity crises – things that most shows wouldn’t even whisper.

Voice Cast Goals

Maya Rudolph for that sultry high, Nick Kroll for that Hormone monster + goofy teenager, and John Mulaney? The lineup was comedic gold.

Quick Season Recap (S1–S7):

  • Season 1 introduced Andrew and Nick’s early puberty journey.
  • Season 2 brought in the Shame Wizard and began tackling deeper emotions.
  • Season 3-4 dealt with identity, anxiety, and even political correctness.
  • Season 5 brought in Love Bugs and Hate Worms, diving into relationships and self-worth.
  • Season 6 tackled family dynamics and intergenerational trauma.
  • Season 7 returned to the basics with graduation looming and the future in sight. It was never afraid to evolve just like its characters.

Conclusion

Like Puberty, Big Mouth Was Wild, Gross… and Weirdly Beautiful. Saying goodbye to Big Mouth feels like closing the door on the most awkward part of your life – messy, loud, unforgettable. Big Mouth was the chaotic sex-ed class we never knew we needed!  And just like puberty, it left us changed. Awkwardly, Filthily & hilariously changed.
