Can a show stay rooted in charm while getting tangled in politics? Or has Panchayat traded warmth for views? For years, Panchayat was India’s answer to the cozy village dramedy we didn’t know we needed. Panchayat 4, Streaming now on Prime Video (June 24,2025). An escape to Phulera where life was light, laughter easy, and friendship king.
But Season 4 takes a grittier turn, diving deeper into dirty politics, ego clashes, and power games. So… is it still worth watching? Let’s break it down.
What’s Good?
Performances That Ground You
From Jitendra Kumar’s quiet rage to Raghubir Yadav’s comedic command, the characters were beyond awe.
The characters were real even amid the cacophony-people you know.
Emotional Moments Still Land
Scenes with Prahlad Cha (Faisal Malik) are especially heart-wrenching. A simple look from him says more than a monologue. Fans are still connecting deeply with the emotional undercurrent.
Conflict = More Engagement
This season leans into power struggles, and guess what? It does get gripping. Whether it’s Bhushan scheming or MLA throwing tantrums, you’re invested… even if mildly annoyed.
A Binge-Worthy Setup
Despite the tone shift, you’ll likely binge all eight episodes in one go. Credit goes to tight cliffhangers and rising stakes; especially with Kranti Devi and Bhushan plotting from the shadows.
What’s Not Working?
Where Did the Simplicity Go?
Many viewers miss the good ol’ days when the biggest problem was a faulty water tank or a tantrum over transfer letters. The show has gotten heavier, and not everyone’s loving it. “This used to be Malgudi Days vibes… now it’s MLA Days.” a Reddit fan commented.
Too Much Election, Not Enough Emotion
The political angle is stretched. While it’s realistic, the “MLA vs. Pradhan vs. Bhushan” triangle dominates too much screen time, leaving little room for the show’s soft, slice-of-life roots.
Romance Rushed, Again
Rinki and Abhishek’s storyline had so much potential. But it’s barely explored and when it is, it feels rushed and underwhelming. The kiss scene was cute, but where was the buildup?
Characters Feel Dimmer
Even the antagonists felt underpowered. The MLA, who used to be an unpredictable firecracker, barely moves the needle this season. And Bhushan, while annoying… never quite reaches full “villain you love to hate” territory.
Predictable Cliffhanger
The ending? Suspenseful, yes. But also painfully obvious. Most fans are betting Kranti Devi and Bhushan will win the election, setting up Season 5. Which is fine… but where’s the twist?

Worth Watching?
Yes…but go in with managed expectations. If you’ve loved this show since Season 1, you might feel that bittersweet ache: the storytelling’s evolved, but the soul’s slightly misplaced. It’s still far better than most content out there, and the performances hold everything together.
But don’t expect to feel the same carefree joy you did when Sachiv ji was fixing computers and avoiding Rinki’s mom. Panchayat 4 feels like that friend who used to crack jokes and now gives you long political rants at tea time. You still care about them, but you do miss the laughs.
