Some actor combinations are so surprising yet become the most classic. We never knew that Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil would be joined by Versatile veteran Vadivelu in negative shades in 2023’s “Maamannan”. Now the combo is back again for another huge mainstream suspense murder mystery film, “Maareesan”. Let’s see all the details here.
It’s not your Regular suspense
The teaser starts with a happy-to-go Mayabaazar film song “Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo” in Tamil, as Fahadh & Vadivelu go on lush green roads on a bike. They continue to do so, they drink, they travel together, they play cards. Seems like they are neighbours, well, the scene turns upside down, when the song is played eerily. First, the actors sing it one after another in the background, a mystery murder situation handled by the police. Did they kill each other? What is the relationship between them? Who is the hero, who is the villain? These twists are quite exciting, we will know in movies.
Vibe: The upcoming superhit
As the song goes off-key after 15 seconds of the teaser, you will understand the tension and deeper conflict between the characters. This is truly a visual wonder for us because both Vadivelu and Fahadh are method actors who can fit in any role like water. Since the comedian turned acclaimed actor is exploring his negative side, this film promises to bring out the best version of Vadivelu sir.
One thing is for sure: it has humongous potential to become a cinematic masterpiece. The cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji & editor Sreejith Sarang have mentioned editing to a fast pace & sharp narrative for the suspense. So be ready for the exciting chemistry.

This film is a Yuvan Shankar Raja Musical, directed by Sudheesh Shankar. Well, cast and crew details are kept a mystery before release. We do know the protagonists, Fahadh Fassil and Vadivelu, acting opposite each other. The teaser showed seasoned actors like Kovai Sarla, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, and P.L. Maareesan is the 100th film produced by SuperGoodFilms of RB Choudary. While the veteran director Sudheesh is known for popular shows like Villai Veeran and Paraparam Serial in the Tamil language. As for negative light, we have seen Fahadh in Malik, Vikram, and Pushpa films, while Vadivelu has nonetheless gained fame for Udayanidhi Stalin’s Maamannan film as a highly silent yet violent father character.
When is the Release?
The post-theatrical rights of Maareesan belong to Netflix, which is expected to release theatrically in early July & the first week of August for OTT. Well, after the teaser drop on June 4, expectations are quite high. The soundtrack is very dramatic and twisted. Of course, the wait is worth enough for this powerful pair with unmatched performances.
