With grand opera music, here comes Fantastic Four: First Steps. Walt Disney Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe has recently given an official statement and released the trailer on YouTube. This superhero film starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ralph Ineson is ready to make a grand appearance on 25th July. Here are all the facts to know.
Comics Publication to Film Adaptation
The WandaVision director, Matt Shakman, is beginning the phase VI of the MCU with his next project, Fantastic Four: First Steps. As coming from original comics, the film is set in an alternative universe, so a different timeline with a major retro-futuristic backdrop. This aesthetic has given a wide opportunity to combine technology extremes from start to finish, like showcasing antenna TVs and war robots in the same era.
Another context is that fans can read the Fantastic Four comics, but the characters have no prior introduction in any other MCU movies. This is the debut. So we can directly enjoy the film. Also, there are legacy films released around 2005. But makers have confirmed these aren’t required viewing. The show comes from different sources and perspectives.
What to Anticipate
The trailer starts with a retro background of many people thanking the Fantastic Four, who were originally Astronauts, for saving the planet. Not very long after, Silver Surfer, one of the main villains of this film, states, ” This planet is marked for Death”, which questions the trust and emotions of authority, whether to trust the superiors or not.
Now, Mister Fantastic (leader), Invisible Woman, Human Torch, & The Thing (immense strength, another version like Hulk) should fight against the cosmic threat, Herald of Galactus, and protect their homeland. Can they succeed? Who is Galactus, and why do they threaten to wipe off the planet? Be curious and catch all the questions in the theaters soon.
Music and Visuals
Most filming and production work took place in Spain and England. The VFX team has used practical effects to recreate the 1960s Stanley Kubrick-style aesthetics. They even employed separate camera lenses and graphic techniques to create the original look. This is new and can be the highlight. Furthermore, the music is composed by Michael Giacchino. The trailer itself has strong background scores, so we can expect high.
Will it be a hit or a flop?
Pedro Pascal, aka Reed Richards, the intelligent scientist and leader of the Fantastic Four, is rumored to star in a major role in Avengers: Secret Wars. So this news increases the hype before the release. By the trailer, teaser, and casting, if the story and emotions are in the right balance, then this movie could be the next Hollywood super hit or a flop.
