Do video games still have the same vibe and hype as in earlier days? Actually, the answer is yes. People of all ages find happiness in playing video games, for instance, “Virtua Fighter 5, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6”, and the list goes on. To provide something special and enticing to audiences in the video games genre, Edward Boon, a video programmer, and John Tobias, a video game and graphic designer, collaborated on the series “Mortal Kombat” in the early 90s. These two American creators built a storyline that continues to be raved about to this day.

Mortal Kombat Series

It revolves around two realms or worlds constant battle, the Earthrealm and the Outworld. Moreover, these battles are overseen by the Elder gods to protect the realm. The Earthrealm consists of Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and other members to fight against the Outworld. On the contrary, Shao Kahn and his team–Shang Tsung and Quan Chi–are evil. To stop the persistent fight in between these realms, Elderly gods created the Mortal Kombat tournament, where if any realm wins 10 times in a row, it can conquer the other realm. Though the conditions are crystal clear, both realms indulge in fighting, with the addition of new alliances and consequences.  Apart from this, Shao Kahn’s ambition to conquer other realms brings a domino effect.

The Films

Anderson, opened the doors for the next film, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.  Driven by the success, the creators of these films explored rebooting the film and released it as Mortal Kombat (2021), and Mortal Kombat II (Upcoming).
