Criminal Code is coming bigger than ever. As the first season ended with a grand-scale jailbreak, this time we have more explosives, shootouts, and intense chases to ramp up the thrill. It’s released globally on June 4 on Netflix. So let’s get into details and see if the show continues its charm or falls flat to fans’ expectations.
Heist-Tension Action
This season is deeply rooted in its prequel plot. After four months of the prison break, the Federal Police is now under the control of Suellen and Benicio, who are determined to capture the heist gang and its leader, Isaac, aka Alex Nader. The phantom gang has an elaborate plan to knock over the São Paulo bank’s vault. He gamed out every possibility to take over the facility and escape safely. However, with recruits and old associates lurking in open grounds just for the right opportunity to showdown, the law is stronger. Thus, creating heavy tension for peers. So will they finish the heist in defence or attack? Curious! Watch the series on Netflix right away.
Vibe: New Dangers and More Challenges
Criminal Code II picks up a gritty vibe. This time, the cast shines, especially Jinkings as she balances grace with cutting sarcasm, and Leader Alex portrays more boldness that adds magic to the new chapter. While new character Xuxa’s highly unpredictable nature makes the show more interesting, the intricate DNA lab work, neck-to-neck chases, and cat-and-mouse fights enhance the depth. Thus, giving a large momentum to drama and suspense. We can feel the pressure on both the detectives and gang members, ensuring a purpose for more internal grip on the plotline.
Crafting Characters
As usual, Alex Nader gave a compelling performance, we can see his character transition from a calculating thief boss to an overconfident and arrogant kingpin. Likewise, Maeve in her role, Suellen, is the perfect match. Her immense dedication to catching the group and being promoted as the new leader adds more mass. Other characters like Rossi as the detective boss and Xuxa, the new hitman, are the wild card entries into the chaos. Thus, capable enough to move the narrative and provide enough diesel to run the show.

Music and Minus
The series doesn’t have any specific soundtracks to note like “Money Heist,” but they did a good job of inducing sound effects to keep us hooked till the end. However, as the story moves through episodes, it’s difficult to remember some characters with similar faces, and the heavy gunfights seem to become repetitive. It’s like a vibe that you have enjoyed previously, also some action sequences seem too crowded and don’t give clarity to enjoy the composition under fire, but it’s manageable.
Final Verdict
Overall, Criminal Code II successfully continues the momentum from its predecessor. The strong characters rock with standout performances by Meave and Alex. Combined with intense sequences and a little dose of suspense, it adds sugar to the tea, even if some scenes are too chaotic and don’t seem to fit the series. It didn’t lose its originality, kept the adrenaline high, so do give it a watch today.
