Jeremy Clarkson’s shows are always insightful–whether it’s about farming, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, or Top Gear, a motoring program. Jeremy has persistently engaged in different events; he has written books apart from presenting on TV shows. After hosting Top Gear in the 2000s, Jeremy rose to fame. And now, with Clarkson’s Farm and The Grand Tour, his latest ventures are earning him renewed acclaim.
However, this Grand Tour can be stated as a spin-off of Top Gear, though the show’s format and style remain the same, it takes place in different locations while embracing new adventures.
Echoes of the Past
Top Gear initially was a revival of the 1970s show of the same name. It was a motoring magazine-style show. In the later stages, around 2002, Jeremy and his friend Andy Wilman brought a new dimension to the show. This show basically consisted of reviewing new model cars while addressing motoring challenges, inviting celebrities to review the car by driving in a specially designed race course. It featured celebrities like Tom Cruise, Rowan Atkinson, Chris Evans, and Cameron Diaz. This drew significant attention from the audience for its visual and presentation style, and adding a subtle humour to the show elevated the adventurous, fun-filled ride.
However, throughout the series, along with Jeremy, other presenters have donned the hat of expert, comedian, or challenger, each bringing their own flair to the show. The show’s success has resulted in extensive merchandising–from live tours and exclusive DVD releases to books–and has inspired numerous international versions worldwide.
Redefined Program
After the triumphant journey of Top Gear, from BBC to international acclaim. It was now the right time to adapt this show specifically for the OTT platform; Jeremy, along with others, helped create the show. Similar to Top Gear, it had car reviews, celebrity appearances, and addressed motoring issues. The only differing part was, special segments were set against the backdrop of various places like Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia. However, during its early run, the show featured in and around the different locations across the globe, before finally settling in the Cotswolds.

As the series progressed, the production team began releasing the standalone motoring specials with dropping episodes from time to time. Towards the end, a final episode to commemorate the friendship of the trio–the showrunners–Clarkson, Hammond, and May, for 22 years, captured not only their journey across continents, but also the brotherhood built under the roar of engines and the weight of shared stories.
Till today, The Grand Tour remains at the top spot in motoring and adventurous journeys. People who are car racing and motor racing aficionados can watch this show on Amazon.
