The Academy Oscars are the most prestigious awards, celebrating the excellence of Motion Arts. It’s a ceremony held annually concluding an end of era, nominating and awarding the best contributions. Voting Associate
The Academy is like an ultra-exclusive organization that consists of 10,900 members, of whom more than 9,900 are eligible for voting. The remaining crew are the Non-voting associates. First of all, Oscars have 19 branches like Actors, directors, Writers, etc, and each of them will vote within their division. Likewise, award nominees will be elected from their respective categories, except for one. Best Picture nominations and winners are based on preferential voting from all branches, more complex than regular voting.
Demographics and Scope for International Talent
As for less popular categories like documentary, sound, shorts, and more, the Academy conducts preliminary rounds within relevant branches. As all nominations get finalized, voting members will proceed to vote through private online ballots. For the 98th Oscars, the board has set some new rules; members eligible for Best Picture must view all the nominated films before proceeding to final voting. This will be tracked with proofs.
Further, the Oscars board has welcomed a list of 534 members for voting on respective nominations across various branches. For example, actors will vote to nominate actors, and they will vote for the final winners. With this, their demographics have balanced to 41% Female, 45% underrepresented categories, and 55% international.
