These documentaries will stay with you for a long time. It is sickening that these crimes were committed for years, and no one was punished or held accountable.
This documentary touched us so deeply. We wanted to reach through the screen and hug these brave men and women. A piece of history that I will never forget, thanks to the efforts of its creators and the researchers involved in it. They scream for their justice and, most importantly, their peace. Every soul on this planet deserves to have peace, in whatever form they choose.
1. Planet Earth (2006)

The Storyline
The series that looks at the animals and plants in remote areas on Planet Earth and the ever-changing ecosystems that are prone to collapse shortly. Each episode focuses on the wondrous, pristine natural world and on creatures and places that had never been captured on camera before. The variety of animals and ecosystems that the BBC team managed to film is very spectacular.
The Visuals
The camera work was truly breathtaking and perfectly captures incredible animal species and their colorful and beautiful habitats.
The Best Part
Amazing footage, both content and quality! Richard Attenborough’s narration makes this extremely intriguing and worth watching. If you love animals and documentaries. capture such scenes as the between-species co-operation between a grouper and an octopus. The grouper signals the octopus the location of fish hiding among the coral. The octopus understands the grouper’s communications.
IMDb Rating – 9.4/10
2. The Civil War (1990)

The Storyline
It gives us insight into American society at that time. How it divides the nation, North and South. How is the fight between good and evil? A fight between state rights and the union. Deppley divided American society on the verge of civil war. Father fighting son. Blacks were fighting for their freedom. Women nursing the wounds of soldiers on the battlefield.
The Characters
The depiction of General George B. McClellan will be hotly debated. Most of his quotes seem to be from letters to his wife, in which he sounds like a braggard and a narcissist.
The Best Part
We need to fully understand the Civil War; everything that led up to it, during, and in the aftermath. We need to fully understand what the people of the North were feeling, the people of the South were feeling, and how the slaves felt.
Shelby Foote was still alive, so he could be in this work. His anecdotal knowledge is fantastic, and his obvious passion for history is infectious. We would have loved to meet him. That smooth southern drawl, combined with the smile like a young boy who just flew his first kite, makes this the finest Civil War documentary to date.
IMDb Rating – 9/10

3. Making a Murderer (2015)

The Storyline
Making a Murderer looks at the case of Steven Avery and the rape and murder of 25 year old Theresa Halbach. A chequered history with the police and 18 years falsely imprisoned, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department seems hell bent on sending the “trouble maker” back to prison. All this happening at the same time Steven Avery is looking at suing the County for $36 million.
The Characters
Candace Owen did a phenomenal job exposing the 2 ladies. Young lad Brendan Dassey was coerced into what to say in a so-called confession. Steve Avery gave his best.
The Best Part
This film goes on to expose the flaws of our judicial system worldwide and exposes the people who are willing to stand by the system no matter what, and the accused are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, but here they are punished for a crime he hasn’t committed. Innocence is at trial if you look at the bigger picture, not just for the deceased victim and her family, but for the ones who are behind bars and their family as well.
IMDb Rating – 8.5/10
4. The Last Dance (2020)

The Storyline
It shows the underlying story and provides deeper context and understanding of Michael. The dynamic back and forth adds report and gives greater context into his mindset and provides dynamic content which doesn’t feel static. Despite his turbulent relationship with his GM being common knowledge and the perceived hardships with losing his father being covered prior, it was only superficially.
The Characters
Jerry Krause shot himself in the foot with his overblown. Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are great in their own right, but Michael Jordan is Michael Jordan played well.
The Best Part
This show doesn’t only focus on MJ and his larger-than-life persona, but also all the struggles, ups, and downs in his life. The show also provides some spectacular editing with the best background score.
One of the greats expands on the popularity, fame, and laurels bestowed upon him. Quite compelling is the somewhat nonlinear timeline, which effectively keeps the audience glued to the screen as the tale unfolds.
IMDb Rating – 9/10
5. O.J. : Made in America (2016)

The Storyline
We get to see O.J. Simpson, his illustrious football career, and his later-life trials for the brutal murders committed on his property. Whatever you believe, I think everyone can agree that OJ has lived an uncommon, incredibly eventful life and shows how systemic mistreatment of minorities leads to a fury that white middle-class Americans simply weren’t aware of, with tragic consequences.
The Characters
It explores OJ against the world in which he grew up, America. The main lead and the cast and acquittal based on revenge for Rodney King.
The Best Part
The murder trial alone showed that evidence alone did not and does not guarantee an outcome that produces justice for victims of violence. The historical events that demonstrate police brutality and wrongful convictions on both sides of the equation were very important factors in this outcome.
The best part of this series is all the diverse opinions and thoughts of those closely involved in his life.
IMDb Rating – 8.9/10
