If you’ve been watching movies in the past 10 years, you’ve probably seen Michael B. Jordan at least once. Whether he’s throwing punches in the ring or playing a villain who makes you question everything, the guy knows how to own a role. He doesn’t just show up—he shows out. Below are five of his best performances (in my opinion), and if you haven’t seen them yet, you’re seriously missing out.
1. Black Panther (2018)

Alright, let’s start with the big one. In Black Panther, Jordan plays Erik Killmonger—and wow, what a performance. He’s not your typical “bad guy”; he’s layered, angry, hurt, and honestly? You kind of get where he’s coming from. He’s been wronged by the world and wants to take back what he feels he was denied. Jordan brought so much emotion to that role, it made a lot of us feel for him even while he was doing some terrible things. I’d say he stole the show—and that’s saying a lot, considering the amazing cast.
2. Creed (2015)

I wasn’t expecting Creed to hit me the way it did. It’s technically a boxing movie, sure, but it’s more about figuring out who you are when everyone sees you as someone else’s legacy. Jordan plays Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed from the Rocky films. But this movie is his own story. He’s stubborn, driven, and has a lot to prove—not just to others, but to himself. And his dynamic with Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) is surprisingly emotional. You can tell Jordan gave this role everything he had, physically and emotionally.
3. Fruitvale Station (2013)

This one’s tough to watch, but it’s a must. Fruitvale Station tells the real-life story of Oscar Grant, a young man who was killed by police in Oakland. The film shows the last day of his life—just normal moments like hanging out with his girlfriend, taking care of his daughter, and trying to do better. Jordan doesn’t try to make Oscar a hero or a victim—he plays him like a real person, flaws and all. It’s heartbreaking because it feels so real. Honestly, this movie proves how powerful Jordan’s acting is.

4. Creed III (2023)

By Creed III, Michael B. Jordan was ready to do more than just act—he stepped into the director’s chair, too. That’s a huge move, especially for such a personal franchise. And you know what? He pulled it off. The story dives deeper into Adonis’s past and introduces a new character from his childhood who brings some serious baggage. It’s intense, emotional, and the fight scenes are more stylised than before. Some people say they have an anime feel, and I kinda see it. Jordan handled both acting and directing like a pro.
5. Chronicle (2012)

Before the fame and big-budget blockbusters, there was Chronicle. This one’s a bit of a hidden gem. It’s shot in a found-footage style and follows a group of teens who suddenly get telekinetic powers. Jordan plays Steve, the popular, likeable guy in the group—the glue holding things together. It’s a smaller role compared to what he’d go on to do, but he stands out. He brings warmth and charisma, and even in a chaotic sci-fi plot, you remember him. Not bad for a low-budget film with no capes or franchises attached.
Final Thoughts
Michael B. Jordan isn’t just another good-looking Hollywood guy—he’s got real talent, and he keeps proving it with every role he takes on. From intense dramas to massive action flicks, he brings emotion, depth, and that extra something that makes you stop and watch. These five performances are just the start—he’s only getting better.
