Uncovering a case by police is a highly skill-oriented job. It requires passion, dedication, and analytical knowledge. In Bollywood, the list of films paying homage to the police department is uncountable, because the word police alone signifies duty and responsibility.

A police officer’s role is to resolve the issues and maintain peace and harmony, but what happens if police divert from their specified missions due to personality change? And this leads to complicated situations that involve their loved ones. To showcase more about a police officer’s persona, director Rosshan Andrrews created an action thriller film, “Deva.” It is a Hindi-language film starring Shahid Kapoor as an aggressive Police officer, ACP Dev Ambre.

Friendship

ACP Dev Ambre is rebellious, yet solves the case swiftly with his analytical skills. His constant fight with politicians while confronting them causes a ruckus. ACP Rohan D’Silva, played by Pavail Gulati, is a true friend of Dev. Their friendship remains the center of attraction throughout the film. Catastrophe strikes when Rohan is killed in a ceremony, leaving Dev devastated. The entire crowd is shocked at the incident. Being rebellious, Dev immediately tries to nab the killer, but unfortunately, the result is in vain.

Dual Personality

To uncover this mysterious incident, Dev embarks on a mission. While on this journey, he collects numerous reports and begins to investigate based on them. His investigation leads to a point where he even discovers the assassin. Behind the investigation lies a hidden agenda — and before it’s uncovered, the film takes an unexpected turn: Dev’s memory loss due to an accident.

Unique Thought

Dev film has a different concept when compared to the rest of the cop films. Here, all the characters’ immense acting takes the centre stage. Especially, Diya, played by Pooja Hegde, amplifies the plot. Diya, an assertive investigative journalist, contributes to the film as a leading alpha female character. Her importance and work intensify the depth of this film. Moreover, it is not about police chasing goons; rather, it showcases a unique perspective, the in-depth nature of ACP Dev. His childhood struggle left a deep scar on his life. A physically abusive father and poverty made him view life from a different angle.

Appreciation for Screenplay

Throughout the film, the plot twists keep the audience engaged. There is no room for confusion, the entire plot revolves around Dev and his investigation before the accident and after the accident. Ultimately, his self-realisation brings everyone emotionally down. The screenplay and BGM elevate each scene by adding their charm.

Conclusion

Overall, the film sheds light on why Dev chose a different path and what made him do that. Hence, the final revelation will leave a remarkable impression on the audience.
