This Korean series is nothing like your usual rom-com K-dramas. It’s a solid action–drama–thriller with a dark and emotional tone. The story dives deep into bullying, friendship, and personal battles faced by high school students.
Weak Hero Class 2 takes everything one step further (possibly deviating from the original script) to give us the same thing at a much bigger scale. In terms of individual storyline, I don’t think there’s been a drastic change in what’s happening with the protagonist, Si-Eun, in 3 years.
The Storyline
What I noticed from the series is that it tried to show us the importance of friendship. Being lonely doesn’t help. Friends who are willing to sacrifice and be truthful to you are the ones who will stay with you for life. Although the last fighting scene between the two gangs felt a bit overdramatic to me, from another angle, it felt like a modern version of the battlefield wars that ancient Koreans fought. It doesn’t cut as deep as season 1, though.
The fact that Yeo Si-eun and Baku planned strategically on how to defeat Baek Jin. Also, the few solo dialogues that Yeo Si-eun had, along with those with his friends, helped the audience understand that it’s not all about the action—it’s about making good friends. This made the series both emotional and action-packed.
About New and Old Casts
New characters were so good and involved us with them. But I’m missing Suho so badly, his glimpse was worth watching. Sei un, as always, has nailed his role, the silent killer, his emotions for his new friends. Baku, oh man, I’m so impressed with his lively laugh, personality, teasing Sei Un, and bond with gotak and with both of his friends.
What Went Missing
The plot is still there, the storyline present, but it isn’t as clear as Class 1’s background story. The acting was ‘okay’ for most. The intro for Baku was short and appealing. It’s tough for the character Baku, especially after the character Su-ho, of a similar basis, existed.
These sorts of characters are usually the hardest to carry, as they are the MAIN Side to the LEAD character. So really well done to the actors behind ‘Su-ho & Baku’.We lost many good characters (though some of them were combined like Gerard and Alex, Cholton and Philip, Ben and the son of the fried chicken seller, etc).
We lost Donald’s charisma too, he’s like just some regular student. He should be more terrifying, intimidating, and genius. And the Eunjang White Mamba Perfect Winning Strike is not delivered so well.
What is Better In Season 2
The fight scenes are well-choreographed, and the tension keeps building up throughout the season. The action is brutal, but it’s the emotional journey—the pain, the resilience, and the bonds formed—stays with you. It’s a show about learning, surviving, and evolving with those you trust. The acting across the board was phenomenal, drawing me completely into the story from the first episode to the last.
