Sudeep, one of the most beloved actors in the Kannada film industry, has a huge fan base across the nation. From his debut as a ‘chocolate boy’ in the 2000 film Sparsha, directed by Sunil Kumar Desai, to his recent macho look in Max, Sudeep has evolved with changing industry trends. Besides, over the period, Sudeep donned various roles, to name a few: police, businessman, burglar, wrestler, and RJ, which created a sensation upon release.
Apart from working in the Kannada film industry, Sudeep’s collaborations with India’s legendary filmmakers brought him national-level exposure. One such example is working with Magadheera director Rajamouli, in a fantasy-action film, Eega. This film received numerous appreciations for its visually stunning sequences, gripping plotline and acting. Especially Sudeep’s portrayal of a rich and powerful businessman, who fights with a fly, earned him widespread recognition.
Besides acting, Sudeep has immersed himself in hosting various shows, like Pyate Hudgeer-Halli Lifu and Big Boss. However, one show that made him even closer to fans’ hearts is the Big Boss show. He has been the Kannada Big Boss host for 11 years. The style, grace, and aura that Sudeep carries on the Big Boss show while presenting brought a new dimension to reality shows in the Kannada industry.
Season 1
BBK (Bigg Boss Kannada) was inspired by the Hindi Bigg Boss, which itself was adapted from the Dutch show Big Brother. Salman Khan has hosted the show for nearly 17 seasons. The latest season concluded on January 19, 2025, with Karan Veer Mehra securing the win spot. In Kannada BB, under Sudeep’s dynamic presence, the 11th season began on 29 September 2024 and ended on 26 January 2025, with Hanumantha Lamani, a wild card entry, grabbing the winner title.
Why Was the 11th Season Last?
During the filming of Bigg Boss Kannada (BBK), Sudeep lost his mother. Even in the difficult situation, Sudeep resumed his work within a short period of time and carried the show with regal grace. However, during his absence, the show continued with voice-overs and other on-set activities to maintain the flow. Moreover, Sudeep’s one message left fans shocked and disappointed, i.e the announcement of Season 11 as the last season with him as host. Upon hearing the news, fans expressed concern over this sudden and emotional decision. Sudeep responded in a calm and composed manner, explaining that his choice to step away was made to explore new opportunities, pursue other creative endeavours, and focus more on his personal and professional life.

The Devil Is Back
This dialogue reminds us of the famous movie Ranna, where actor Prakash Raj expresses his joy upon seeing his grandson, played by Sudeep, return to the board of directors. Now, fans are equally thrilled to hear that their beloved star is returning to Bigg Boss Kannada for Season 12. This comes as a surprise, as it contradicts Sudeep’s earlier statement. When asked about it, he explained that his previous decision to step away was due to creative differences and a sense of unfinished ideas.
Finally, fans can watch Sudeep once again on the screen—it’s a feast for the eyes. Sudeep has given another happy news—signing up for four more seasons. Yes, apart from hosting the 12th season, which is set to premiere this year with a revamped structure and new designs, he will be reprising his role as a host for another four seasons. This is an actual delight for his fans and BBK lovers.Â
