When we talk about Superstar Rajinikanth, words often fall short in describing his larger-than-life persona and his remarkable contribution to Kollywood. Throughout his career, he has donned many roles that captured global attention. For example, Apoorva Raagangal in 1975—his first movie to his latest film Coolie and Jailer 2, Rajinikanth has consistently captivated audiences with his charisma, versatility, and timeless screen presence. 

During his movie promotions, press meets, and interviews, people wait for long hours just to get a glimpse of him outside the vicinity. Recently, people of Mysore were lucky enough to capture their favourite star while shooting. Here is the more in-depth story of Rajinikanth and his fan followers. 

Rajinikanth’s Filmy Flashback – Early Days

Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, popularly known as Rajinikanth, before pursuing a career in the film industry, worked in various jobs—coolie—bus conductor in Bangalore, Karnataka. His passion for film led him to pursue an acting course at the Madras Film Institute. Initially, due to financial constraints and a lack of parental support, he began to doubt his career choice, but one of his friends encouraged him to pursue his dreams. Tamil’s renowned director K. Balachander spotted Rajinikanth in the institute and offered him the first film, Apoorva Raagangal. The director also named him with the stage persona  “Rajinikanth”.

Struggle Days: More Antagonist Roles

Though his first movie received polarised responses from the audience, it became a critically acclaimed movie and won a national award. Later, irrespective of screen presence, Rajinikanth appeared in different languages, Katha Sangama, a Kannada film in 1976, and Chilakamma Cheppindi, a Telugu film in 1977. Additionally, Rajinikanth’s few negative shade films: Baalu Jenu, Avargal, 16 Vayadhinile, Gaayathri, and Galate Samsara—showcased his versatility early in his career, before he transitioned into a heroic personality. 

Breakthrough 

Rajinikanth earned the name Superstar from the movie Bairavi, released in 1978, helmed by M. Bhaskar. This paved the way for his future collaborations with legendary directors and garnered huge fan followers across the nation. 

Fans Then and Now 

Rajinikanth’s fans have expressed the same love since his initial days. There is no change in their love for the hero. Moreover, Rajinikanth’s legacy echoes across continents, with fans in Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, and the US celebrating his every release.

Fans Gathering During Shooting

Fans get excited as soon as they hear the name Rajinikanth. But that excitement grows even more when they find out he is nearby for a movie shoot. Their hearts beat faster until they see their favourite star. Fans always gather at the shooting spot to catch a glimpse of him. Recently, Rajinikanth came to Bilikere, Mysore, Karnataka, to shoot for his upcoming movie Jailer 2. As soon as the news spread, a large crowd gathered at the location, hoping to see their superstar.

To the assembled fans, he gently waved. He even stood on top of his car and raised his hands in the air to greet his loving fans—a moment they will never forget. This is not the first time. Earlier, during his visit to Linganamakki Dam near Kargal in Sagar Taluk for the shooting of the film Linga, fans had also gathered at the location.

Fans of Rajnikanth always support and love the actor for his simplicity, personality, and genuine nature. People can’t wait for Jailer 2 and Coolie release, both are big buget movies and has set the bar high.
