I think the most underrated yet valuable genre is Slice of Life. These TV shows are real drama and assets for learning life lessons. They represent you, me, and everyone’s hidden humor & values to family, friends, colleagues, etc. I have made sure to list all top-notch series above 5 seasons only, because they create commitment and a special bond.

So if you are up to trying something new, then I suggest immediately binge-watching these long and remarkable TV series, which are cult favorites with true fandom.

Modern Family

Are you kidding me? There is no competition to Modern Family. It’s a whole package. The bold mockery of Jay Pritchett, ultra-sensitive Cam, Hottie Gloria, stern mother Claire, and every family member is a complex. This slice-of-life sitcom is 11 seasons full of fun. They also fully support LGBTQ+ queers. Many fans adore this show for being their childhood remembrance and for learning life lessons from it. So it’s a must-recommend.

IMDb: 8.5/10, Rotten Tomatoes: 85%

Friends

Friends is a classic sitcom about the day-to-day lives of six friends navigating their work, love, relationships, & misadventures together. The backdrop of 1990s Manhattan with excellent actors and a pot full of sassy jokes makes it like a comfort show, what to expect. Their characters, Chandler, Joey, & everyone, are iconic. Surprisingly, Friends is one of the rare TV shows that is actively available to stream on all of Netflix, Prime, and Hotstar.

IMDb: 8.9/10, Rotten Tomatoes: 78%

How I Met Your Mother

HIMYM is not your typical slice-of-life series. Our hero, Ted Mosby, tells his kids (2030) the detailed and long story of how he met their mother. But actually, he’s talking about adventures, heartbreaks, and his life with his playful friends. The attractive point is Ted’s fun storytelling, engaging personality, and their squad vibes. Likewise, they also show how reality differs & detours, leading to the soulmate in the end. HIMYM is always a mood to watch.

IMDb:  8.3/10, Rotten Tomatoes: 84%

Gilmore Girls

You might’ve never watched it, but Gilmore Girls was a staple in every house at that time. It’s not a show of extravagance but an exploration of the ordinary yet complex relation between a daughter & to single mother, who treats her more as a friend than a parent. Lorelai Gilmore had strict parents and became a teen mom, now raising her kid, Rory, while exploring love and partnership in different ways, which is beautifully sourced in seven seasons.

IMDb: 8.2/10, Rotten Tomatoes: 87%

The Office

The office is something you miss because of its so-normal-looking posters. But it’s a hidden gem. It’s about the employees and their lives at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, Scranton branch. The first season is a slow starter, but ongoing, your perspective will completely change. By the end, most of the audience felt that the world is not so a dark place and there is always scope for oneself in society. So if you feel a drawback, watch this.

IMDb: 9/10, Rotten Tomatoes: 81%

Conclusion:

A slice of life is enjoying the beauty in ordinary moments. From bonding with your kids to partners and friends, everything revolves around how you perceive and go on with your life. In the same way, every series has its charm and positivity that makes you love it till the end. So, do give them a try today!
