Amazing show, unexpected comedy, and deep sorrow. But also joyful with fantastic acting, covered so many topics and for everyone who says it’s a disgrace, but missed the point they were trying to get across.
Imagine how privileged and arrogant you have to be, in your own life, to condemn Molly’s story. To have never been traumatized; never been misdiagnosed or dismissed by your doctor; to never have needed to heal your emotional wounds before your last moments. The show was funny and eye-opening, but also inspiring in a way. Definitely worth the watch if you aren’t into kink shaming.
The Storyline
It really showed you a true friendship between two women who were more like sisters and how she stuck with her and never wanted to leave her side. Also the relationship between the mother and daughter and how much she needed her at the end. Yes she left her husband and slept around. It wasn’t just all for sex. Molly wanted to be wanted, loved, and held, and her husband wasn’t giving that to her. She wanted to feel sexy, as we all do .
The Best Part
Molly wanted to be wanted, loved, and helped, and her husband wasn’t giving that to her. She wanted to feel sexy as we all do, and he point-blank called her disgusting when he saw a photo of her masturbating, putting her down. Not only that, she didn’t feel like he knew he,r and felt he was only holding her back from knowing herself. The way they displayed their friendship was so beautiful, the way they loved each other so much until the end. Knowing it’s based on a true story adds even more weight to its impact.
Childhood trauma informs the mother-daughter relationship as well as the relationship Molly has with her own body. You will laugh and most certainly cry but understand a bit more in the end about terminal illness, hospitals and those that care for the dying. Most of all, I hope we can grow from the show a more evolved thinking about the process and journey that is terminal illness.
The Characters
Relationships, friendships, and love of a friend beyond everything are based on a woman, Nikki Boyer, portrayed brilliantly, echoing the voice of the woman this series is based on named Molly. Michelle and Jenny’s performances are nothing short of phenomenal, bringing authenticity and depth to every moment.

Is It Worth Watching?
Dying For Sex is for someone who doesn’t shy away from witnessing parts of themselves they would push deep within. Those who want to experience and celebrate life, putting themselves and also their loved ones first, above and beyond anyone else. The series doesn’t romanticize dying; it humanizes it. Molly’s preparation for death isn’t about closure but about control, curating her exit with the same boldness she brought to life. Even the doctor’s role subtly challenges the clinical detachment of illness, reminding us that dignity in death isn’t sterile; it’s messy, emotional, and fiercely personal.
