THQ Nordic übernimmt Handy Games für 1 Million Euro

Die THQ Nordic GmbH gab bekannt, dass der Kauf von HandyGames mit Sitz in Giebelstadt, Deutschland, abgeschlossen wurde. THQ Nordic AB hat im gleichen Atemzug alle IPs und Franchises wie beispielsweise „Townsmen“ oder „Clouds & Sheep“ erworben. Das Management-Team, sämtliche Mitarbeiter (rund 60) und der Standort werden übernommen. In der Vergangenheit hatte THQ Nordic bereits Koch Media als auch Black Forest Games übernommen. Mit HandyGames erweitert das in Schweden ansässige Unternehmen somit erneut sein Portfolio. Laut einem Bericht von GamesWirtschaft liegt der Kaufpreis bei 1 Million Euro in bar. Abhängig von der Geschäftsentwicklung können weitere 1,5 Millionen Euro hinzukommen. Erst vor Kurzem hatte HandyGames eine Förderung des FFF Bayern in Höhe von 300.000 Euro für das VR Projekt TownsMen VR erhalten. „Unsere beiden Unternehmen verbindet eine sehr ähnliche Philosophie, wenn es um Themen wie unternehmerisches Handeln, Firmenkultur und andere Aspekte geht, wie z.B. die Wertschätzung unserer Eigenständigkeit bei gleichzeitigem Schaffen innerhalb eines größeren Firmennetzwerks“, sagen Markus Kassulke und Christopher Kassulke, Brüdergespann und CEOs von HandyGames. „Im Vorfeld unseres Zusammenschlusses haben wir ein Team gefunden, das nicht nur mit Leidenschaft großartige Inhalte veröffentlicht, sondern uns ebenfalls den richtigen Rahmen für die kommenden Jahre bietet.“ „Es ist eine wahre Win-Win Situation für alle Beteiligten, da HandyGames sich als neuer Publisher für kleine und mittelgroße Entwickler und Projekte perfekt in unsere Gruppe einfügt und im Gegenzug von unserem Netzwerk und unserer Infrastruktur profitiert. Gemeinsam mit HandyGames steigt THQ Nordic in das VR-Segment ein und erhält Zugriff auf eines der erfahrensten Vertriebshubs für Mobile-Games in Europa“, kommentiert Klemens Kreuzer, Managing Director bei der THQ Nordic GmbH. „Wir erheben die Gläser und heißen HandyGames in der Familie von THQ Nordic willkommen.“
