Most suburban families need an au pair, maid, or nanny to help with household chores. When the au pair is from a foreign country, the host family must provide a safe and supportive environment to ensure their well-being. Underlying this theme, the director Per Fly crafted a suspense thriller series, Secrets We Keep. It is a Danish language series supported in English and the Philippine languages.
Wealthy Family
When an au pair named Ruby disappears across the neighbourhood, Cecilie decides to uncover the murder along with her au pair, Angel. Moreover, Ruby worked as an au pair for Katarina Hoffman, who is a close friend of Cecilie’s. Now, the disappearance of Ruby strikes fear among them.
Intensified Plot
The story gains momentum when Cecilie’s son, Viggo, invites Katarina’s son, Oscar, to join them for dinner. After dinner, Ruby confides in Cecilie, saying she needs help and can no longer stay with Katarina’s family. Cecilie urges her to speak directly with her employers, explaining that she can’t get involved in her neighbours’ personal matters.
As the story progresses, Cecilie discovers Ruby’s body floating in the water, leaving her deeply shaken. The revelation that Ruby was pregnant at the time of her death adds a disturbing new layer to the mystery. Now, with the help of the local cop, Cecilie embarks on a mission to bring justice to light.
Social Media
The young boys, Viggo and Oscar, have a social media group where each person must share obscene content, failing which will lead to removal from the group. However, Viggo shares only one disturbing content and stops sharing further due to guilt. Nevertheless, Oscar keeps sharing the content on the platform, oblivious to his parents. When news of Ruby’s death reaches Katarina, she learns that her husband was directly involved in Ruby’s pregnancy, uncovering a devastating betrayal.
Beneath the Mask
The series sheds light on power, authority, and economic disparities in communities. These two women, Cecilie and Katarine, both belonging to wealthy families, are now responsible for the death of Ruby, a financially struggling woman.

Mystery Unsolved
Though the series highlights Oscar as the murderer, eventually, a new shocking twist arises when Katarina confesses What if I did the murder? Ultimately, leaving the audience wondering who the actual culprit is.
Characteristic Performance
All the actors have exceptionally donned their roles, especially the leading actors Marie Bach Hansen as Cecilie, Danica Curcic as Katarina, and Donna Levkovski as Ruby.
The series, released on May 15 with six episodes, has created a remarkable impression on viewers’ minds with its gripping plotline. And now the fans are already looking forward to the next season with great anticipation.
