Telugu actor/comedian Priyadarshi Pulikonda is a grounded yet acclaimed actor, known for his work in subject-featured films. He has a superhit film streak of 2-3 years, which continues strong with his previous film, Court: State vs. Nobody, released this year. Let’s see whether his latest journey as Sarangapani leads to the peak or just another addition.

Horoscope, Hindrance, and Humour

Sarangapani is a go-lucky car salesman with true faith in horoscopes and predictions. His life becomes better as his boss Mythili accepts his love, and their parents approve of the marriage. However, the story takes a twist when a well-known astrologer declares he will be involved in a horrendous crime at least once in his lifetime.

Being in awe, he decides to pre-commit the crime on some random person to avert the danger moving forward. But murder isn’t a routine thing for a common man like him to do in life. So what’s his plan, how will his family react to his decisions, & Is his firm belief stronger than his ethical front? covers the rest of the story.

Vibe: Murder Vs Marriage

Mohanakrishna Indraganti, a National Award-winning filmmaker known for his movies Gentleman, V, and Samohanam, is the director. He brings the best laughter and morale out of a routine and confined background. We can see through the hero’s character, as the story doesn’t have much scope. However, the point of struggling between marriage, family, and personal intentions is shown quite good. Actually, the film questions whether life is complicated or we make it complicated enough to hate it. So you will have a fun time!

Crafting Characters

Priyadarshi, as usual, gives his best, this time as a comedic hero with many stereotypical beliefs about Astrology. These types of people do exist in our society, and he tried well to imitate that behavior. It works, but it doesn’t make any long-lasting impression like in his other films. The next strong character, even dominating the protagonist, is Vennela Kishore’s acting. He shines in his role as best friend and does justice to the storyline. We have some good actors like Tanikella Bharani Sir and Srinivas Avasarala, who are quite underused. Even the heroine, Roopa Koduvayur, is just like a prop, nothing to portray.

Soundtrack

The film’s music is composed by Vivek Sagar. It has two highlight songs, “Sarango Sarango” vocals by Armaan Malik and “Sanchari Sanchari” by Sanjith Hegde, both are penned by the legend Ramajogayya Sastry. Other songs are just okay, & the background score doesn’t add any extra charm to the film. So ordinary soundtrack album.

Final Verdict

The film doesn’t scream excellence, but it is above decent. The humour makes up for the loose plots, and even though it’s predictable, the plot is entertaining to watch till the end. I would say a neat family film to watch. It’s released on May 23 on Amazon Prime in other languages, Tamil, and Kannada as well. So enjoy Kudos!
