The tropes for undercover violence, strong spy play, with a loving family, never go out of trend. After superhits like Buddy Daddies and Spy X Family, now we have Sakamoto Days joining the bandwagon. He is a hitman, but his wife fears him, “NO Killing or DIVORCE”. Sounds interesting, let’s get into detail, whether this anime hits the bullseye or not!

Love, Family, and Blood

Sakamoto Taro was once the world’s most feared hitman. His violence and strong aura can be felt miles away, but his life flips when he falls head over heels for store clerk Aoi. Like many men in love, he retires, marries her, and leads a peaceful life. A mundane life with lots and loads of food to become overweight and underestimated.

His old partner Shin tracks him down to kill him, as Sakamoto disrupts their clan’s rules of never leaving. Soon, Shin understands his heart and starts working as a clerk in their grocery store. While his wife is strongly adamant about the zero violence concept. So, how will he protect them against all the odds and villains? Curious! Stream right now.

Vibe: Sakamoto’s Here No Fear

Pro tip: Never underestimate a person by their body. Sakamoto might look like an overweight middle-aged man, but he knows how to protect his family perfectly. In fact, his store is overnight a weapon’s lore, and his fighting skills didn’t even change an inch. Once was a demigod, still one. Other characters like Shin, Aoi, and his daughter add value and virtue as the show progresses. This is only part 1, there is part 2 coming up. Read more details below for information.

Excellent Screenplay

This anime is loved worldwide for all good reasons. Sakamoto’s situations are combined with enjoyable humor & love, as he stays loyal to his current obligations while in action. The entire screenplay and editing are on point. They don’t overdo the parts. Personally, the best transitions were his past and love story shown in detail during a serious fight. The flashbacks are genuine, they make us closer to each character.

VFX and Soundtrack

The Sakamoto days opening track is impressive. It’s a strong, lively song followed by an attractive voice, visuals, and a burning guitar track, a full-on vibe. Likewise, the graphics and voice-over actors are chosen well, from the style of a covert, peaceful grocery store to violent action scenes. The series brings a perfect blend of art and animation.

When is Part 2 coming?

With international recognition, the show has immediately been renewed for part II, and lucky us, it’s coming soon on July 14. The makers have leveled up, as the trailer is full of bigger fight sequences, more laughs, & more legendary assassins/death row inmates. One dialogue goes, “You don’t need a heart to kill. I hear you have a daughter, Sakamoto.” This time it’s personal, and our hero is prepping for a grand spree. So, who will win?

Final Verdict

The Sakamoto Days is a must-watch for anime lovers. Although it starts with a confined plot of a retired hero back in action. Here concept has more depth, emotion, & a strong purpose to portray. Sakamoto’s character runs the whole game; his calm demeanor and limited words set up the ideal background for the suspense, because it’s unpredictable. Do watch the show today on Netflix and stay tuned for Season 2, only on Netflix!
